The New York Solidarity Network stands shoulder to shoulder with our friends at Central Synagogue in Manhattan following the disturbance during their Friday night services this Shabbat.

Our thoughts are with those who were injured and all those who are feeling fear and uncertainty in the aftermath.

No one should have to wonder whether they are safe to pray in New York City. And no community should be targeted because of who they are.

From founding iconic spots like Katz’s Delicatessen to becoming influential neighborhood organizers, Jewish New Yorkers have shaped the fabric of this city in countless ways.

Honoring that legacy means fighting for what comes next. At NYSN, we’re amplifying Jewish voices, strengthening our community, and ensuring a future where Jewish New Yorkers continue to thrive.

Seeing New York through the eyes of our NYSN volunteer, Lisa Dontzin, further amplifies the incredible contributions of our community to our city!

Last week, the Mayor announced his Advisory Committee on the Judiciary, a group of 19 legal professionals that help shape who becomes a judge in New York City’s Family and Criminal courts. These are the judges who affect our safety, our families, our civil rights, and our future in New York.

Not one Jewish lawyer, former judge, or legal professional was appointed to the Committee.

The presidents of the Jewish lawyer associations representing Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, and the Bronx wrote a letter to Mayor Mamdani to express their deep disappointment and called for immediate corrective action. We support and applaud their advocacy for Jewish representation.

This exclusion is neither equitable nor acceptable. Our community deserves representation. Add your name to our petition calling on Mayor Mamdani to appoint qualified Jewish legal professionals to the Judicial Advisory Committee and to meet with the Jewish legal professional associations immediately.

We need you to join us.
