This , the ASPCA and San Diego Humane Society are teaming up to help you and your pet prepare for wildfire emergencies!

During the devastating Eaton Fire in early 2025, our partners at San Diego Humane Society deployed and responded to over 120+ calls, including search-and-rescue requests, welfare checks, evacuations and shelter-in-place requests. The ASPCA disaster response team also collaborated with San Diego Humane and other agencies to help more than 3,900 animals in the aftermath of the wildfires.

These emergencies are real and can happen at a moment's notice, so it's critical to have an emergency plan ready, especially as wildfires have been more frequent and severe.

Recently, ASPCA staff and volunteers joined NYPD officers at eight events across all five boroughs of New York City to celebrate National Night Out. This annual community-building campaign aims to enhance the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement. At each location, we handed out giveaways, informational flyers and spread the word about our low-cost Community Veterinary Clinics and Mobile Veterinary Clinic.

National Night Out gives us a crucial opportunity to connect with our neighbors and community pet owners, reminding them that they are not alone and can always reach out to us to learn more about how to care for their four-legged family members. How the ASPCA Continues to Expand Access to Affordable Veterinary Care 🧡

Did you know that in 1860, only 392 of the 31 million people living in the United States considered themselves veterinarians? Dr. Alexandre Liautard, a French veterinary surgeon, opened a veterinary practice on Lexington Avenue in New York City that same year. He also caught the attention of ASPCA founder Henry Bergh, and the two collaborated extensively to improve the quality of life for vulnerable animals. From early animal ambulances and veterinary anesthesia to trusted hospitals that treated pets belonging to families who could not afford veterinary care, the ASPCA has long paired medical innovation with an outstanding commitment to animals and the people who love them.

Today, rising costs and a shortage of veterinary professionals leave millions of pets at risk or without care, which is why our efforts to ensure pets and families have access to veterinary care are just as critical 160 years later. In 2025 alone, our hospital served more than 109,000 animals and our clinics performed 79,000 spay/neuter surgeries. We also advocate for telemedicine, operate a 24/7 poison control hotline and offer professional training and scholarships for those looking to enter veterinary medicine!

They tried to put Lainey on the cover of Vogue, but her legs were tooooooo long 💁‍♀️

Gorgeous supermodel Lainey is a 16-year-old Miniature Horse at our ASPCA Right Horse partner, Layla Rose Ranch Equine Rescue, with the sweetest soul. While she may be less than three feet tall, Lainey still owns the barn like it's a runway! This girl has so much love to give and is looking for someone who understands that building trust takes patience and consistency. Lainey has come a long way during her time at Layla Rose, and we just know there's an amazing little horse in there waiting to shine once she feels completely safe.

is rockin' and rollin' even harder now Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale has hit the stage 🎶🎸 Inspired by his own adopted dog, Kaya, we’re excited to announce Gavin as an ambassador for the ASPCA’s national adoption campaign – ! From August through October, The Rescue Effect highlights the lifesaving impact that pet adoption and fostering have on shelters by freeing up space and resources to help more animals in need. With over 500 participating organizations, these shelters and rescues are full of pets of all sizes, ages and personalities who are looking for loving homes.

Gavin adopted Kaya in 2025 from Los Angeles Animal Services, a participating Rescue Effect shelter partner, ultimately creating a ripple throughout the shelter system that allowed them to support even more LA animals. Once homeless, Kaya is now Gavin's beloved companion who even accompanies him on tour and during photoshoots – just like this one!

When Cosmo needed help, an entire constellation of supporters stepped up to help change her fate 🌠

At only 5 months old, Cosmo was found by the NYPD, allegedly abandoned, with several other dogs. She and the other dogs were brought to the ASPCA Animal Recovery Center in New York, where we noticed something wasn't quite right. As it turns out, Cosmo has very limited sight and is suspected to be deaf—hardships she's likely struggled with throughout her short life, yet they've never dampened her spirit. Despite her differences, Cosmo is an incredible example of resilience, as she's remained a happy-go-lucky puppy through it all. Now, Cosmo has touched down at one of our incredible partner shelters, CT Humane Society, and will soon be ready to find a home of her own. Since becoming one of our rescue partners, Connecticut Humane Society has taken in 41 of our animals into their care, freeing up space so we can help the next dog or cat in need. That's what we call .
