What's in this first-time mom's hospital bag? Comfy pajamas, snacks, electrolytes, slippers, a diffuser, and a speaker for music—everything you would need to stay comfortable.

But a Mama Kit is everything you would need to survive. It includes what a woman needs to give birth safely when she's pregnant in the middle of a humanitarian crisis—when the hospital is gone, the power is out, or the road there isn't passable. Clean birth supplies. A sterile blade. A clean sheet. The basics that turn a dangerous birth into a survivable one.

Thank you to for using your platform to support our work. 🧡

5 a.m. in Ukraine. No electricity and no internet—but there's gas, there's water, and there's a convoy to catch.

120 Dignity Kits reached women and girls in a settlement in Kherson Oblast, 2.5 miles from the frontline. Inside each kit are: hygiene items, underwear, tops and bottoms, and blankets for the brutal winters.

The women and girls living this close to the frontline are navigating violence, mined roads, and long stretches without power.

Our colleague's words on the drive back: "I cannot even imagine myself being in a situation like that—and this is what makes me the most heartbroken, but at the same time the most committed to my work."

Your support gets these kits where they need to go.

"As a midwife, I have learned that saving a mother's life means saving much more than one life. It means protecting children from losing their first source of love, keeping families together, and preserving the strength and hope of communities."

Those are the words of Kindness, a midwife in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh.

Every birth she attends ripples outward—into a child who grows up with their mother, a family that stays whole, and a community that holds together. This is what midwives carry into every delivery room, every home visit, every long night on call.

To every midwife reading this: thank you for the lives you reach 🩷

Periods don't pause in crises.

For millions of women and girls living through conflict, displacement, or disaster—getting through a period each month means going without pads, without clean water, without privacy—and often without anyone to talk about it with.

But this Menstrual Health Day, you can be a lifeline.

Each Dignity Kit carries pads, soap, underwear, a flashlight, and other essentials chosen for the realities women and girls face in crisis—items that turn an impossible week into a manageable one. They are delivered by UNFPA healthcare workers in refugee camps, shelters, and clinics in more than 150 countries, often alongside care that women can't find anywhere else.

Your support reaches them.

This May, we're honoring AAPI Heritage Month by spotlighting the women and girls of Asia and the Pacific—a region home to 36 countries and 60% of the world's population.

In Bangladesh, two in five girls are married before 18.

Imam joined a UNFPA program called SASA! five years ago and is working to change that—one family, one conversation at a time.

In the Philippines, Fredie was nine months pregnant when Typhoon Bualoi tore the roof off her home.

A local health worker reached her in the days after the storm and brought her to a UNFPA Mama Kit distribution—where she could get clean supplies for a safe birth, when there was nowhere else to turn.

Across the world's largest continent, your support is reaching women and girls in moments that matter. This AAPI Heritage Month, that work continues.

Rags. Leaves. Newspapers.

This is what millions of women and girls reach for when they can't afford or access period products—every month, for days at a time.

Period poverty means missing school or work and risking infection. A Dignity Kit changes that.

Inside, they contain period products, soap, and underwear.

Every day, UNFPA delivers them to women and girls in crisis zones and the hard-to-reach communities. In 2025, we delivered 518,000 Dignity Kits.

May 28 is Menstrual Health Day. Your $15 delivers one kit, reaching a woman or girl directly.

🚨 An Ebola outbreak is spreading across the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda. There is no vaccine for this strain.

37,820 pregnant women live in the affected areas. Nearly 100% of pregnant women who contract Ebola will lose their baby.

UNFPA is on the ground right now, delivering specialized care to moms, newborns, and the healthcare workers treating them—including protective equipment, disinfectants, and essential medicines.

Over one million people in Lebanon have been displaced by the war. Half of UNFPA's healthcare centers in conflict-affected areas have closed—cutting off 325,000 women and girls from care.

Your generosity keeps mobile clinics, midwives, and safe spaces moving.

In crisis, labor doesn’t wait.

An Emergency Birth Kit contains just six items: soap, a sterile plastic sheet, a sterile blade or scissors, an umbilical cord tie, a blanket, and latex gloves. But in the middle of a displacement crisis such as a flood, war, or an earthquake, those six items can mean the difference between a safe birth and a deadly one.
