We had a wonderful time presenting at the Long Island Council for the Social Studies (LICSS) Annual Conference!

Through our “Tour of Auschwitz” VR experience, we explored how educators can help students engage with Holocaust history in a meaningful and personal way, encouraging reflection, understanding, and remembrance.

Thank you to the Long Island Council for the Social Studies and all the educators who joined us for this important conversation. We’re grateful for the opportunity to support educators in making Holocaust education impactful for the next generation.

Fanya Gottesfeld Heller was a Holocaust survivor, author, educator, and longtime advocate for Holocaust remembrance and education. After surviving the Holocaust as a young girl, Fanya dedicated much of her life to sharing her story with students and helping future generations understand the human cost of hatred and intolerance.

Her memoir, "Love in a World of Sorrow: A Teenage Girl’s Holocaust Memoir", tells the story of her childhood in Nazi-occupied Poland, her survival, and the journey that followed.

At Spirit of Triumph, we believe survivor stories are an essential part of Holocaust education. We encourage our community, educators, and students to read Fanya’s memoir, and her other titles and films, and learn from her firsthand experience and enduring message.

That’s exactly what we hope for with our VR “Tour of Auschwitz.” It’s not just an experience students have, but one that gets them thinking, asking questions, and talking about what they’ve seen.

What does it mean to be a hidden child survivor?

During the Holocaust, Jewish children were sometimes hidden from the N***s in homes, convents, farms, and other places of refuge. Many were separated from their families and lived under false names or identities in order to survive.

This survivor was one of those hidden children from Belgium.

Today, Jacques Weisser serves as a Trustee of Yad Vashem UK, continuing to help preserve the memory and lessons of the Holocaust.

After experiencing Spirit of Triumph’s “Tour of Auschwitz”, he shared that the VR experience was “amazing” and educational.

Hearing directly from survivors is a powerful reminder of why we continue to share their voices and why Holocaust education matters.

Yesterday, Spirit of Triumph joined educators, school leaders, and technology professionals at NYSCATE’s Level Up event in Albany to explore the future of learning.

It was a great opportunity to connect with educators exploring VR and emerging technology in the classroom, and to share our Tour of Auschwitz immersive VR experience and the mission behind it.

Thank you to NYS Association for Computers and Technologies in Education- Nyscate for bringing educators and technology professionals together to explore what’s possible in the classroom!
