Two weeks ago H. Kristy & H. Kriestelle participated in a community service hosted by the Women’s Center for Gender Justice at
CUNY York College.

They created care packages for students and community members in need. The community service event was part of York College’s Homecoming Spirt week. It was event that reflects York College’s long-standing commitment to service and civic engagement.

We would like to thank York college for hosting a great community service event and for the invitation!

Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day! 🪶

Today, the Hermanas of Lambda Pi Upsilon Sorority, Latinas Poderosas Unidas, Inc. honor the histories, cultures, and contributions of Native Americans, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians, and recognize the resilience, diversity, and lasting presence of Tribal Nations and Indigenous communities.

Honoring Indigenous peoples also means facing the history of displacement, violence, and erasure that followed European colonization, and supporting the work toward justice and healing that continues today.

Ways to honor the day beyond the post:
✨ Learn whose land you live on, and what Indigenous history shaped your community
✨ Shop from and support Indigenous-owned businesses
✨ Support Indigenous-led groups working to protect their lands and rights
✨ Listen to Indigenous voices and amplify them

Today and every day, we stand in solidarity with Indigenous communities.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease.

This year alone, an estimated 321,910 women and 2,670 men in the U.S. will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer — a reminder of just how many lives, families, and communities this disease touches every single year.

Join the Hermanas of Lambda Pi Upsilon Sorority, Latinas Poderosas Unidas, Inc. in raising awareness toward breast cancer and its effects on the women in our lives.
