What is a Mbongi? 🛖✨ In the Kikongo language, a Mbongi is a traditional physical space—a communal house where the community gathers to discuss governance, resolve challenges, share meals, and collective wisdom. It is a space rooted in transparency, mutual respect, and shared purpose.

We are bringing this intentional practice to our gathering in Ghana. This is more than a conference; it’s a collective table where we strategize for global Black food systems.

📍 Join us at the table. October 6–19, 2026.

🌾 SMALL GRAINS. BIG GAINS. 🌾

Food Sovereignty relies on honoring the resilient, indigenous crops that have sustained our ancestors for centuries. From millet and sorghum to fonio, our indigenous grains hold the key to climate resilience and nutritional sovereignty.

At this year’s Mbongi, we will dive deep into regional agro-ecological strategies and seed-saving traditions that protect our food future.

True sovereignty begins in the soil. When we lose our connection to the earth, we lose a piece of our history. The 2nd Global Black Food Sovereignty Mbongi isn't just a tour—it’s a reclamation of our ancestral agricultural legacy.

Spend 14 days in Ghana 🇬🇭 learning, building, and grounding yourself alongside visionaries who are rewriting the narrative of Black food systems worldwide.
