Most life drawing models hold a pose. This one holds a transformation.

For Q***r Figure Drawing: Drag & Transformation, our model is a drag artist — and you'll sketch them through every stage of becoming: powder, pad, lace, lash, the last look in the mirror.

Facilitated by Ashanti Hampton.

Q***r-centered, community-driven, and open to everyone.

Wednesday, September 2 | 7–9PM

Whether you’re here to see it, taste it, read about it, or take a little home with you, there’s plenty of salt to explore at MODA.

Open Wednesday through Sunday | 12 PM — 7 PM

What if your morning coffee came with a story?

At Portrait Coffee, the people who grow the coffee are part of that story. By working directly with producers and putting farmers’ names on its single-origin bags, Portrait Coffee is changing how we recognize the people behind our daily cup and how a coffee shop can show up for its community.

Join us for Business x Design as Portrait Coffee founder Aaron Fender sits down with Gene Kansas and Jon Goode to explore what happens when recognition, equity, and community become part of the design.

Thursday, August 20 | 5:30 PM – 8 PM

Salt is everywhere—and its story is deeper than we imagine.

Long before it reached our tables, salt shaped landscapes, trade routes, communities, and cultures. From ancient preservation practices to contemporary craft, this essential mineral has influenced how we build, create, and connect.

Join MODA for a guided tour of Salt: A Design Story and explore the hidden design forces behind one of Earth’s most overlooked materials.

Saturdays & Sundays | 3PM – 4PM

What does it mean to design a business around people instead of transactions?

Join us for Business x Design as Portrait Coffee co-founder Aaron Fender shares how a trip to Rwanda reshaped his thinking about coffee, community, and the systems that connect them. In conversation with Gene Kansas and Jon Goode, he'll explore the intentional decisions behind building a neighborhood gathering place where design extends far beyond the cup.

Thursday, August 20 | 5:30 PM 7:30 PM

Thanks to generous support from donors, FREE FRIDAYS are back! It's an important part of MODA's mission to be a gathering place for inspiration, discovery, and exploration — a place where everyone has the opportunity to connect with design and explore their own creativity. We're thrilled to open our doors even wider this Friday and, with continued support, every Friday throughout the run of our newest exhibition, SALT: A Design Story.

Join us on Friday, August 7 for a FREE FRIDAY, made possible by a generous anonymous donor who shares our belief in design's power to build a better world.

If you or your business would like to sponsor a Friday, we'd love to hear from you! Together, we can make design accessible to more people and continue building a stronger, more connected community.

A recipe card with a coffee stain. A grandmother's looping cursive in the margin of a cookbook. The words "add salt to taste," written by a hand that knew exactly how much salt that meant.

Recipes hold more than instructions — they're physical artifacts of the people who passed them down.

Join cursive artist and educator Stef Alicia McCalmon for a hands-on workshop exploring the relationship between handwriting, food, heritage, and design. You'll reflect on recipes as personal archives and leave with a handwritten recipe keepsake of your own.

Bring a handwritten family recipe, cookbook page, or kitchen note if you've got one — stains, scribbles, and all.

📅 Thursday, August 6 | 5:30PM–8PM
