Atlanta's sound didn't just define a city — it defined the South. It shaped neighborhoods. It drove politics. It gave generation after generation a language for power, grief, and ambition. And nobody tells that story better than Dr. Regina N. Bradley, Ph.D. Join us for a free public lecture series at MODA and hear what the music has been trying to say all along.

Salt is a commodity used in your everyday life. It flavors our food, appears in products we use every day, and creates extraordinary geological wonders. For thousands of years, it has fueled trade, guided exploration, sparked conflict, and shaped economies across the globe. Though often overlooked, this humble mineral has left its mark on nearly every aspect of human life. Our world, in many ways, is built on salt.

SALT: A Design Story — MODA’s next exhibition opens July 9.

Life is short. Eat the cake!

Some fundraisers ask a lot of you. This one just asks you to show up on a Sunday afternoon, wander our galleries, and pick your slice.

On Sunday, June 7, MODA is hosting something extra sweet. Join us for Cake for Camp — an afternoon of cake, something sparkling, and a chance to see Public Notice: The 2025 U.S. International Poster Biennial.

Cakes come from some of Atlanta's most celebrated makers: Alon's Bakery & Market, Pastry Addict & Company, Café Intermezzo, Star Provisions, A Cacao Affair, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Hell Yeah! Gluten Free, and Olivia Lovelace and Maura Dupré from Atlanta Magazine.

Each $35 ticket includes cake, drinks, and admission — and helps send a kid to Design Camp, MODA's summer program where young people discover they're already creative thinkers, whether they know it yet or not.

Most of us have walked into a space and felt instantly at ease, or inexplicably on edge, without knowing why. Color is usually the answer.

Interior designer, Grossman, has spent her career thinking carefully about what color does — and why it matters. She's joining us at MODA to break down how color actually moves people, and how you can use it intentionally in your own spaces.

What makes a place shape a sound?

Join us at Museum of Design Atlanta for a day exploring how place, culture, and design shaped the sound that changed music forever. Spend the morning with Dr. Regina Bradley tracing the legacy of Atlanta hip-hop from OutKast and the Dungeon Family to trap music’s global impact. Then, work with designer Sarah Lawrence to create historical markers honoring the Atlanta spaces that made it all possible.

From Bankhead to Stankonia Studios, this workshop looks at how music, memory, and design all leave their mark on a city.

Atlanta is full of food, it just isn’t reaching everyone. Food insecurity and food waste are often treated as separate problems. Yet in Atlanta, they exist side by side.

Each season, fruit trees across the city produce food that goes unharvested on public land, while many families struggle to access fresh produce. Concrete Jungle works to recover edible plants, fruits, and nuts across Atlanta and redirect them to communities that need them.

Their work reminds us that solving hunger can begin with paying closer attention to what already exists around us.
