Some of the strongest heroes are still small enough to be carried in their parents' arms.

At just 18 months old, Zion was diagnosed with leukemia. Since then, his journey has included chemotherapy, relapse, CAR-T cell therapy, and a bone marrow transplant. Through every treatment, hospital stay, and setback, Zion continued to smile and show incredible strength.

Today, Zion is in remission and continuing his recovery, reaching milestones that once felt far away.

His family says Zion has taught them the true meaning of courage, resilience, and unconditional love. To them, he is a hero every single day, and every milestone is a reminder of how far he has come.

Children like Zion are the heart of CURE's mission. Their stories inspire our work to support families facing childhood cancer and invest in research that leads to better treatment options and better outcomes for children everywhere.

Meet CURE Dream Maker Denise Poirier.

As the grandmother of childhood cancer survivor Echo, Denise has experienced firsthand the impact of CURE's support for families facing a diagnosis.

Earlier this year, Echo graduated from Pre-K while going through treatment for leukemia. She rang the bell last week and will have a big party celebrating the end of treatment in November. Through it all, she's remained an adventurous kid who loves being outdoors and dreaming big about her future.

Throughout Echo's cancer journey, Denise's family found support, community, and care through CURE. Today, she gives back as a Dream Maker, helping ensure other families have access to those same resources.

"CURE has become family to us. The smiles your team and volunteers put on these children's faces and the help you offer families we will always be grateful for. We are excited that Echo is moving onto the next phase and is ringing the bell, but our family will always support CURE."

10 years ago, Mark Myers joined CURE with a purpose.

Following the loss of his youngest daughter, Kylie, to Ewing sarcoma in 2015, he committed himself to fulfilling her final wish: find a cure so other children don't have to suffer as she did.

Over the last decade, Mark has helped tell the stories of the children and families we serve, bringing our mission to life through digital content that helps others connect with our mission. He has also helped advance CURE's research mission, supporting the annual process in which CURE invests in the next generation of pediatric cancer researchers.

Whether attending community fundraisers, supporting corporate partners, or helping colleagues behind the scenes, he consistently goes above and beyond to advance our mission. And as a fun piece of CURE history, he was also our first male staff member!

Mark truly embodies the heart of CURE. Through his unwavering dedication, he continues to honor and fulfill Kylie’s wish, ensuring her legacy lives on in the lives of the children and families we serve.

Hope, friendship, and community were at the heart of this year’s Catie’s Gathering Bluffton-HHI. 💛

Together, attendees raised an incredible $93,000 for CURE Childhood Cancer, helping fuel the research and family support that children with cancer need. The evening featured the event’s signature themed tables, exciting auction experiences, and moving stories from local families whose daughters met during treatment and have remained friends as they continue their healing journeys.

This weekend, Atlanta came together for children fighting cancer. 🎗️

The 13th Annual Believe Ball brought together advocates, partners, families, and supporters at The St. Regis Atlanta for an evening dedicated to advancing the future of childhood cancer research and supporting families through every stage of treatment and beyond.

The program featured heartfelt remarks from Nicole and Colby Chiles about their son Grant’s story, recognition of childhood cancer survivor Matt Gephardt as the recipient of the Ragab Spirit of Hope Award, and the presentation of the Corporate Challenge Award to Novelis.

As Dean Crownover energized the room through the live auction and Fund-a-CURE, our guests demonstrated the power of a community united by purpose. The celebration continued well into the evening with music from Papa Sol, dancing, and time spent together in support of CURE’s mission.

The heart of Catie's Gathering has always been carrying forward Catie Wilkins' legacy by supporting children and families affected by childhood cancer and advancing research that creates better outcomes.

This evening, at the Bluffton-Hilton Head event, two local families will share the story of how their daughters—Ella and Micki—became friends while receiving treatment for leukemia. Micki was just four years old when she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), while Ella faced acute myeloid leukemia (AML), months of hospitalization, and later a bone marrow transplant after her cancer returned.

Instead of meeting on a playground, they met on the oncology floor. While undergoing treatment, they spent time together in the hospital playroom, building a friendship that helped carry them and their families through long hospital stays, uncertainty, and the many challenges that come with childhood cancer.

Today, Micki has completed treatment, and Ella is celebrating one year in remission. Their milestones are a testament to the progress that has been made, but their story also serves as a reminder that thousands of children and families are still navigating the realities of a cancer diagnosis.

Ella's and Micki's journeys underscore the purpose behind Catie's Gatherings: supporting families facing childhood cancer today through programs like financial assistance, counseling, and hospital support, and investing in research that can lead to better treatments for the children who will be diagnosed tomorrow.
