Check out WEB DuBois: Rebel with a Cause by filmmaker Rita Coburn on PBS. Repost • W.E.B Du Bois had some concerns about the art being created during the Harlem Renaissance.

“If you want to remember something, write it down.” Repost • At , Tony Lewis’s “Abstract Slavery” marks the artist’s first solo presentation in New York, bringing together four interrelated bodies of drawing unified by a sustained inquiry into the Atlantic slave trade through the material and conceptual possibilities of the medium. Lewis treats drawing and language as parallel forms of abstraction — appropriating word game grids, shorthand notation, and layered graphite to approach a history so vast and incompletely documented that it resists fixed representation. International Museum Day was on May 18. Here are a few of the Black museums around the world that masterfully amplify Black narratives, tell our collective and unique histories and maintain the artifacts of our humanity. Repost • As the world marks International Museum Day 2026 under the theme “Museums Uniting a Divided World,” Black museums stand as powerful reminders that culture can bridge even the deepest historical divides.

Built from histories of exclusion, displacement, and resistance, these institutions preserve the truth of Black experiences while celebrating identity, creativity, resilience, and achievement.

From Africa to the diaspora, Black museums continue to reclaim erased narratives, inspire global conversations about justice and belonging, and prove that preserving history is essential to building unity, understanding, and a more inclusive future.

Market news. Repost .knee • some strong results for BIPOC artists. No surprise Lorna Simpson or Nick Cave that have major presence in Venice did very well, same with Firelei Báez who just opened a major solo NY.
Kehinde Wiley’s work was only acquired as recent as 2024, provenance Stephen Friedman gallery, his smaller works have always done very well at auction!
Rashid Johnson’s work sold for twice its estimate. I placed a same size work from this series with a prominent foundation, $250k was the gallery price at the time.
Artists that recently joined the ancestors like Fred Eversley (2025) or very recently Melvin Edwards in April, their work also not surprisingly did very well.
Noah Davis family sold the work “Blue House”.
Barkley Hendricks $4.6m!!!
Botero’s bronze horse sold for a record $1.8m.

Clearly signs of a healthy market, results like this have a positive influence, builds market confidence also for the primary market.
