On September 25th, our Program Director Kristy Smith had the opportunity to participate in a roundtable discussion with US Labor Secretary Julie Su during Atlanta’s Good Jobs Alliance Signing Ceremony. During this meeting, Kristy had the opportunity to highlight our YouthBuild program, focusing on the pathways we are creating for young people to secure quality jobs in construction and logistics. Reflecting on the experience, Kristy said, "I was also proud to join other leaders in signing the Good Jobs Principles, reinforcing our commitment to workforce development and equity."

Taking a moment today to celebrate our AMAZING Program Director, Kristy Smith (pictured second from the left), who was recently selected to join this first-ever global cohort of 20 dedicated international leaders from across the YouthBuild movement! 🎉🥳🙌

This 2-year fellowship is designed to support the leadership of local YouthBuild program directors around the world, providing opportunities to strengthen their leadership and organizational development skills, build community, and work together to strengthen collective efforts in support of opportunity youth. Fellows work together on practices to inform the entire network about positive youth development and program sustainability, influencing the future of policies and practices at all YouthBuild programs. This framework is grounded in YouthBuild’s core values of love, collaboration, accountability, diversity, and leadership.

We are so proud and grateful to have Kristy as a leader and role model in our program and are excited to see what new innovations her involvement with this fellowship brings to GABTA YouthBuild! ❤️

Last week some of our participants spent a day exploring the world of electrical linemen while visiting SELCAT, the Southeastern Line Constructors Apprenticeship & Training! They learned about different equipment and saw what exactly it takes to keep our power flowing smoothly. ⚡
