Wichita Aero Club members got an exclusive tour of the National Institute for Aviation Research, Wichita State University (NIAR) at Wichita State University’s brand-new Hub for Advanced Manufacturing and Research (HAMR).

From exploring the impressive 170,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility to seeing cutting-edge technologies like digital twin integration and automated fiber placement in action, it’s clear that WSU and NIAR are pushing the boundaries of aerospace innovation right here in the Air Capital of the World.

Since 2009, the Wichita Aero Club has honored outstanding individuals and organizations with strong ties to the Kansas and Wichita aviation community, and now it’s time to submit your nominations for 2026.

The Wichita Aero Club Trophy recognizes exemplary achievements in aerospace accomplished over the past year or across a distinguished career.
