Bridget's Cradles We provide comfort, hope, and healing to families grieving the loss of a baby in Heaven. She was stillborn at 24 weeks in 2014.

Bridget's Cradles is a 501c3 nonprofit organization incorporated in the state of Kansas founded after the birth of Matt and Ashley Opliger's daughter, Bridget Faith. Bridget's Cradles provides hand-made knit and crocheted cradles to 1,050+ hospitals in all 50 states to offer to families whose babies were born into Heaven in the second trimester of pregnancy. Memory keepsakes are provided to families who have lost a baby in the first or third trimester. Bridget's Cradles hosts Hope Gatherings, monthly Christ-centered support groups both online and in-person at their headquarters in Kechi, Kansas. They also organize an annual event, Wave of Light, for bereaved families on October 15th, Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. Bridget's Cradles supports families who have experienced miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant loss by raising awareness about pregnancy loss, providing resources for healing, and sharing Christ-centered and hope-filled encouragement on its website and social media pages.

Today, we honor and remember all the precious babies in Heaven who will live on in our hearts forever.

While we wish we could gather at Beech Lake tonight, we look forward to seeing you at our rescheduled Wave of Light event on Tuesday, October 20.

In the meantime, we encourage you to honor your baby in a special way today. 💜

🕯️ Light a candle at 7:00 PM to join families around the world in the International Wave of Light.

🎶 Listen to Jealous That Heaven's Your Home, a beautiful song written and performed by James Shove in memory of his son, Phoenix.

🤍 Create a special remembrance display with your baby's photos, keepsakes, or other cherished mementos.

🚨 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: WAVE OF LIGHT RESCHEDULED TO TUESDAY, OCTOBER 20 🩷💙

Due to the forecast of significant rainfall this week, we have made the difficult decision to reschedule Wave of Light from Thursday, October 15, to Tuesday, October 20.

As an entirely outdoor event, the anticipated rain presents several challenges. Even if the rain stops before the event, saturated ground could make our grass parking area unusable and prevent our team from setting up safely. With more than 48 hours of outdoor setup and dozens of volunteers and vendors involved, waiting until the last minute could mean canceling the event altogether.

And this evening of remembrance is simply too special to cancel if we have another option. 💜

We know that October 15 is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day, and we understand how special that date is to our families. While our new date will no longer fall on October 15, we will still gather during Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month to honor and remember our precious babies in Heaven.

✨ NEW EVENT DATE: TUESDAY, OCTOBER 20, 2026 ✨

What you need to know:

🩷 Already registered? Your registration will automatically carry over to the new date. No need to register again!

🩷 Sponsored a light? Your baby's light will still shine, and their name will still be honored. If you can no longer attend, we will email you photos of your baby's personalized sign, include their name in our remembrance video, and mail you an event program with their name listed.

The week of her daughter Gabriella’s due date carried the weight of all that should have been. 🤍

But in the midst of her grief, Andrea chose to honor her daughter by bringing hope to other grieving moms.

After Gabriella passed away at 24 weeks, Andrea received a copy of Cradled in Hope at the hospital. The book brought her comfort and reminded her that her daughter was safe in Heaven with Jesus—and that because of Him, their separation is not forever.

So, for Gabriella’s due date, Andrea purchased 50 copies of Cradled in Hope and delivered them to hospitals, pregnancy centers, libraries, and grief organizations throughout Charlotte—including the hospital where Gabriella was born.

“I chose to donate the books in honor of Gabriella so that her life could help bring healing and the hope of Jesus to the hearts of other moms whose precious babies have left this earth.”

50 books. One deeply loved little girl. A legacy of hope that will continue reaching grieving moms for years to come. 🤍

Gabriella’s life matters, and her story continues to make an impact. What a beautiful way for her mama to honor her.

⏰ ARRIVAL
Gates open at 5:30 PM and the program begins promptly at 6:00 PM. Please arrive early so you're settled before the program begins.

📍 LOCATION
Beech Lake | 13th & Webb | Wichita, Kansas
Registered guests will receive parking information and event details by email.

🪑 BRING
Lawn chairs and/or blankets for seating during the program.

🕯️ CANDLES + LANTERNS
We provide the flameless candles used during the event as well as water lanterns for the lake release.

🤍 MEMORIAL ITEMS
If you sponsored a light cluster, you're welcome to bring a framed photo or ultrasound, flowers, stuffed animal, or other special items to place beside your baby's sign.

🎶 5 DAYS UNTIL WAVE OF LIGHT 🎶

This year, there will be a moment at Wave of Light that we have never experienced before.

James and his wife, Emily, came to Bridget’s Cradles after the loss of their son, Phoenix. In his grief, James began putting into music what was difficult to express in words.

From that journey came “Jealous That Heaven’s Your Home.”

And on October 15, James will perform his original song live at Wave of Light in memory of Phoenix and all of our babies in Heaven. 🤍

We’ll also be led in worship by Christ Church, lifting our voices together to the One who holds our babies and holds us through every season of grief.

This is what Wave of Light is about.

Not forgetting.
Not moving on.
But remembering with hope.

Five days until we gather. Five days until we sing. Five days until 50,000 lights shine for babies who will never be forgotten.

💜 OCTOBER VOLUNTEER WORK NIGHT 💜

October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month—a time to honor babies gone too soon, remember the families who carry them in their hearts, and raise awareness of the profound impact of pregnancy and infant loss.

This month, we invite you to turn remembrance into action by joining us for an evening of service at Bridget’s Cradles. Together, we’ll prepare cradles and Christ-centered, hope-filled resources that will be sent to hospitals across the country to comfort families experiencing the loss of a baby.

Every cradle prepared, ribbon threaded, tag attached, and box packed represents a family who will be reminded in one of their darkest moments that their baby’s life matters, their grief is seen, and they are not alone. 💜

Whether you’re stitching, sorting and tagging items, threading ribbon, or lending a helping hand wherever needed, there’s a place for you. No sewing experience is required—just a willing heart.
