Join PSI Kansas for an educational webinar with Madison Roberts, DO, MBA, PMH-C, Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Kansas Medical Center and general and perinatal psychiatrist.

Intrusive thoughts are common during the perinatal period, but distinguishing perinatal obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) from postpartum psychosis can be challenging for clinicians, families, and patients. Understanding the differences is essential to providing compassionate, appropriate care and recognizing when urgent intervention is needed.

In this presentation, participants will explore the clinical features that distinguish perinatal OCD from postpartum psychosis, including intrusive thoughts, insight, reality testing, delusions, hallucinations, and risk factors. Through clinically relevant examples, attendees will learn how to discuss frightening thoughts without increasing fear or stigma, conduct appropriate risk assessments, and identify when emergency psychiatric evaluation is warranted.

Sometimes, it's not one big thing. It's a hundred little things that have slowly become too much.

The messages you haven't replied to. The washing that keeps piling up. The appointments you need to make. The things you keep forgetting. The worries that won't leave your head. And everyone needing something from you when you barely have the energy for yourself.

Even the smallest task can start to feel enormous when your mind is already full.

And sometimes, you don't even know where to begin. So you sit there, thinking about everything you need to do, feeling more overwhelmed by the minute.

If this sounds familiar, here's something worth remembering:

You don't have to sort everything out today.

You can take a break without earning it first. You can leave something until tomorrow. You can ask for help. You can do one tiny thing and let that be enough for now.

Some days, getting through the day is an achievement in itself.
