Trauma-Informed Insight: The Power of the Pause

A pause is not doing nothing.

It gives adults time to breathe, students time to regulate, and everyone a better chance to choose connection before correction.

When passionate people come together, powerful things happen.

This week, members of the Parents as Teachers National Center team gathered to connect, learn from one another, and strengthen the relationships that fuel our work. These moments remind us that behind every family served, every parent educator supported, and every child given the opportunity to thrive is a dedicated team committed to making a difference.

We’re grateful for the collaboration, creativity, and shared purpose that continue to move our mission forward. Together, we’re building stronger support systems for families and brighter futures for children.

We're also grateful to the Missouri Botanical Garden for hosting!

In July, we’re kicking off our new monthly conversation series, Practice & Purpose! This series is designed for home visiting professionals to share experiences, explore best practices, and grow together in community. The Institute for the Advancement of Family Support Professionals () will facilitate casual, engaging discussions and peer connections. Participants will gain practical insights and renewed inspiration to support children and families. There will be 2 sessions each month: One session is designed for home visitors to connect and share, the second session is only for supervisors. (These sessions will NOT be recorded.)

🟠 July’s Topic: When Practice & Policy Collide
We will share and discuss common ethical issues that may pop up during home visits. We will focus on situations where the everyday practice of home visiting contradicts policies (for example: accepting food from a family you are visiting). Let's discuss how you handle these situations and how policies and practices collide. Join us!
