Old Cowtown Museum is an educational institution operated as an open-air living history museum dedicated to preserving and presenting the history of Wichita, Kansas through immersive experiences of life in the late 1800s. Public information requests must be directed to the Public Information Officer.

Hey military families -
Did you know that the Blue Star Museums program provides FREE admission to area attractions for active military members and their families from Armed Forces Day (May 16) to Labor Day (September 7).

Old Cowtown Museum will be closing at 2pm Saturday, June 13th, to prepare for Cowboys and Cocktails that evening. Last admission is at 1pm on Saturday. The museum will be open 12pm-5pm on Sunday.

Come out to Old Cowtown Museum to celebrate Independence Day like they would have in the old west. The museum grounds will be festooned with patriotic flags and bunting as the townspeople gather to celebrate America and America's 250th. 🤠 🧨

From temperance marches to gunfights, guests will experience many different elements of 1870s Wichita including games, old timey baseball, wagon rides, and more!

Wool sweaters are unmatched in keeping you cozy. But how does that wool get from 🐑 ➡️ 🧥?

🐑Farm Encounters - Wool Production and Sheep Shearing
🐑From 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, May 16

Participants will work with raw wool, learning to card and spin it into yarn. Learn about traditional techniques and visit with the sheep that reside at Cowtown’s farm. Old Cowtown’s Farm Manager and a local rancher who provides sheep to Cowtown will lead the program as you delve into activities performed by the earliest settlers of Wichita. It'll be shear fun!

Tickets may be purchased at the gift shop.
