Schools looked very different in the 19th century, often one-room buildings that catered to students of all ages. 🏫 Most 19th century teachers 🍎 were single females who carried a great responsibility for educating children. Learn about the lives of teachers, curriculum, and teaching strategies in early Wichita.

Come out to "Curator's Corner- Being a 19th Century Teacher." This program is part of the museum’s series commemorating the nation’s 250th anniversary and is done in partnership with McCormick School Museum. Local historian Dee Starkey will deliver the presentation in partnership with Old Cowtown's curator, James Vannurden. The program will take place in Old Cowtown’s one-room schoolhouse.

The Curator's Corners programs are funded through a generous grant from Wichita Wagonmasters Good Life Fund at Wichita Foundation.
