When ASSIST met Paco he was living in his car with two dogs and on dialysis several times a week. His mother moved up from California to care for him once he got housing. Very shortly thereafter ASSIST won his case for SSDI benefits which has helped keep a roof over their heads while he continues his treatment.

Our first training event was a success in Southwest Portland. We had 24 participants. Kind of a perfect size to start with as we work to streamline our future events. Many thanks to the Tabernacle SDA Church for their help in making this happen too.

After a long hiatus we are reconvening our training events. Our first one will be in Portland on August 14, 2026, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM

With this comprehensive 4-hour class you will learn how to develop a thorough benefits "claim", SSA's eligibility criteria, and what their review process is for approving benefits. Cancellation refunds available until August 12, 2026.
