Make your Costco run count this month. 💛

Since 1988, Costco employees, members, and suppliers have rallied to support Children's Miracle Network (CMN) — raising more than $690 million for pediatric patients.

This year’s CMN Champion, Izzy, got to visit our local Tigard Costco and go behind the scenes. Izzy’s joy is a reminder that your support delivers expert care, inspires hope, and creates a future of possibility. At just 6 years old, Izzy has faced hydrocephalus, multiple brain surgeries, and countless challenges with unstoppable resilience. When you support Costco’s CMN campaign, you’re helping kids like Izzy receive lifesaving care — including 12 in Oregon and SW Washington whose support goes to Doernbecher.

Thank you for helping change kids’ health in our community!

We for Ava — a bright, funny, and wonderfully kind 9‑year‑old who fills every room with laughs.

According to her mom, Ava loves to play teacher and keeps her family laughing with her practical jokes. Her happiness is contagious, her wit is unmatched, and her heart is pure gold.

What many don’t see is the strength behind that smile. Ava had to re‑learn how to walk, play, and run, and she tackled every stage of her cancer journey with courage far beyond her years. Now tumor-free for five years, she's using every chance to dance it off! 🪩💃 Her favorites include Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Alicia Keys and her favorite song is "Happier" by marshmello 🎶

We’re dancing with you, Ava! Show your support at gograyinmay.net

We for Carsen because this kid is unstoppable!

Despite 18 months of chemo, an 11‑hour spinal surgery, a wheelchair, plates and screws in his neck, and a neck brace… this kid showed up with more heart and grit than most adults ever will.

He’s earned a 4.0 GPA every single quarter of middle school, is receiving the Principal’s Award AND the Citizenship Award. PLUS he still found time to shine in sports. He was on Varsity basketball 🏀 and his AAU team went to state. He runs track 🏃 and just finished districts and got invited to run in state at the Meet of champions for the 400 meter dash. 🥇 Go Carsen!

He loves fishing, his dogs, and his friends — and he does it all with the sweetest, most positive attitude.
Carsen, you are an inspiration to your peers, your community, and every person lucky enough to know you. Support Carsen: gograyinmay.net

Our shelves are running low on stuffed animals — and our patients rely on them for comfort during some of their toughest days. OHSU Doernbecher patients make over 140,000 visits each year, and stuffies help make the hospital feel a little softer, safer, and more like home. If you’re able, please consider donating a new stuffed friend to help us restock the snuggles and brighten a child’s day. 🌈🧸

Note: Stuffies need to be ✨ brand new and unused ✨ . Please place donations in the large blue bin outside the main lobby. More info and ways to donate: https://www.ohsu.edu/doernbecher/wish-list ↖️

We’re taking a major leap forward in the fight against osteosarcoma — a rare and aggressive bone cancer that most often strikes children and teens. Thanks to a $3.17 million federal award, supported by the Sam Day Foundation, Dr. Alexander Davies and his team are launching an ambitious project aimed at understanding and stopping the disease where it becomes most deadly.

For more than 40 years, families have endured the same heartbreaking reality: when osteosarcoma spreads to the lungs, survival rates barely improve. Traditional tools haven’t allowed scientists to truly see what’s happening as metastasis takes hold. Davies’ lab is changing that.

With this new funding, researchers can now watch osteosarcoma cells in action — how they grow, spread, communicate, and respond to treatment. These advanced models give scientists an unprecedented window into how tumor cells establish themselves and, importantly, what makes them vulnerable. This work brings us closer to developing safer, more effective treatments that finally move the needle for kids and families who have waited far too long for progress.

Together, we’re pushing toward a future where kids facing osteosarcoma have more hope and more tomorrows.🎗️❤️ Learn more: https://bit.ly/3Pk7UHn

We for Maddie — a brave, bright, unstoppable 4‑year‑old. 🩶

According to her mom, Maddie loves to play doctor right alongside her care team, always flashing the biggest smile and saying, “I got this,” before heading in for her “special medicine" (chemo).

Maddie has low vision in her right eye and no vision in her left, yet the way she’s adapted has inspired everyone around her. Most people who meet her would never guess what she’s facing — her smile shines that brightly. 🌈

She loves Bluey, Doc McStuffins, and her favorite, Danny Go!, and she brings that same playful spirit into every room she enters.

Maddie, you are pure courage wrapped in sunshine chasing those gray days away. ☀️ ☁️ Go Gray for Maddie: gograyinmay.net
