When life moves fast, the right support changes everything. 💙
For the Reavis family, getting the call that their daughter’s cardiac surgeon had an opening quickly changed their plans. Suddenly, they had to travel from Salem to Portland, coordinate work schedules, notify their daughter’s school, and apply for family medical leave, all while preparing for a 4 a.m. hospital check-in.
“I wasn’t aware that a stay at the Ronald McDonald House was a possibility for us! Our surgery scheduler offered us a night stay for the evening prior to her surgery. She filled out and submitted the application for us and we learned quickly that we were approved. It was such a relief to have that part of the equation handled and our needs anticipated.”
“The staff were very welcoming and accommodating. My daughter loved exploring all the different rooms. We played a board game while we listened to a young man play the acoustic guitar in the family room. We had dinner together, we relaxed in a big bean bag chair with sensory lights. I even stole away for a little stress relief in the massage chair while my husband and daughter watched a movie together. The bed was very comfortable, the outside grounds were beautiful, and the play structure outside and the play spaces inside were fun and very child friendly. It was an answer to a need we didn’t know we had. It brought peace in a time of uncertainty. We are so thankful.”
Every family deserves a place to rest, where they can stay close to the people who matter most. We’re so grateful we could be there for the Reavis family and support them along their journey. 🫶
