Today’s focus: CONFIDENCE. For us, confidence means believing in your strengths, owning who you are, and having the courage to take risks, embrace challenges, and pursue your goals. We’re practicing it this week by having youth brainstorm their strengths and what makes them a great leader from our “I Am A Leader” activity. What does confidence look like for you?

This month, girls have been exploring six character elements that help them be strong, smart, and bold: confidence, critical thinking, emotional intelligence, kindness, respect, and self-advocacy. We will also hear directly from current Girls Inc. youth, whose voices and experiences are at the heart of our work.

We are thrilled to announce that Hilary Butler has been named the new CEO of Girls Inc. of the Pacific Northwest!

Hilary brings more than two decades of experience in nonprofit leadership, youth programming, and coalition building. Her career has centered on education, the arts, and community access.

As CEO, Hilary is excited to step into this role at a real inflection point for Girls Inc. of the Pacific Northwest. She looks forward to deepening connections with donors and community partners, and to ensuring Girls Inc. continues reaching as many girls as possible with programming that we know changes lives.

“Through years of work in youth and girls programming, I’ve had the privilege of watching girls come into their own when given the space to develop skills, build confidence, and discover what they’re capable of. I’ve seen girls who don’t yet see their own potential find their voice, claim their place, and go on to mentor the younger girls coming up behind them. That kind of transformation is real, it is life changing, and it is exactly why the mission of Girls Inc. feels like home.”

From Washington State to Washington, D.C.! ✈️

This week, one of our incredible Eureka! participants, Maya, is representing Girls Inc. of the Pacific Northwest as part of the Teen Advocacy Council’s trip to our nation’s capital.

Alongside Hannah, our Career & College Readiness Program Coordinator, Maya met with members of Congress to advocate for issues affecting youth, including bullying prevention and social media addiction. They joined fellow Teen Advocacy Council members from across the Girls Inc. network to share their experiences.

We are so proud of Maya for using her voice to create change and for representing Girls Inc. of the Pacific Northwest on a national stage!
