Tag along with the OEC Team for a behind the scenes look at Legislative Days đź’š

We’ve officially wrapped a three-day long stint in Salem, where we championed our 2027 legislative goals through education and advocacy. Leg days also give us the opportunity to work in coalition with partner organizations. On Tuesday, we teamed up with several other Oregon environmental nonprofits to make progress on clean transportation.

Legislative days are a joy for our work, bringing together dedicated leaders of Oregon to push for progress together. We’re still buzzing from the energy and momentum, and can’t wait for the next round!

We know what’s at stake when Oregon’s Climate Protection Program is attacked: our health, our livelihoods, and our futures. Today, we joined our coalition partners at Beyond Toxics, Climate Solutions, Oregon Business for Climate, Rogue Climate, Verde and Crag Law Center in moving to intervene in court and defend the CPP from attacks by the oil and gas industry.

The Climate Protection Program makes sure industrial polluters cut the pollution driving climate disasters. The program is legally sound and essential for Oregonians – we won’t stand by while fossil fuel companies attempt to delay progress.

When Oregon Business & Industry filed a lawsuit to repeal the Climate Protection Program in April, we knew we had to take action. So we did.

Communities across the country are being forced to cover the cost of a climate crisis we didn't choose. In Oregon and beyond, people are pushing back: there is no denying climate change.

OEC is proud to be part of the No Denying Climate Change Tour, a series of town halls across the US cutting through the noise and building momentum for climate action.

Join us on June 22 with Congresswoman Maxine Dexter, M.D., Climate Action Campaign and a coalition of 14 leading climate, conservation, and community organizations.

Doors open at 5:30 PM, follow the link to RSVP đź”—

Right now, the Trump administration is treating people as expendable putting polluters first while our communities pay the price. They’re gutting protections that keep our air and water safe, denying climate science, and stripping away the systems meant to warn and protect us from extreme weather....

We sued the Trump Administration, and we WON.

In late 2025, OEC sued the federal government for the first time in our near 60-year history over Trump's unlawful rollback of tax credits for wind and solar energy projects. This past Sunday, that decision paid off when a federal judge struck down the IRS' guidance that unjustly attacked clean energy.

This thrilling victory belongs to us all: our collaborators at NRDC for representing us in the case, the other plaintiffs and supporters for carrying this effort forward, all advocates who believe in a clean energy future, and every American paying utility bills nationwide.

OEC has been a strong advocate and proponent for the CPP since its inception. We have served on CPP rulemaking advisory committees, worked closely with the Governor’s office, DEQ, advocates, community partners, and regulated parties to create the best possible climate program.

We are proud of this work and the benefits the CPP will deliver to Oregon, and we’ll keep fighting to protect this critical program for as long as it takes 💚

OEC is making an impact in our community with Community Energy Project 💪 🌱

Our staff had a blast joining forces with Community Energy Project to work on home repairs and improvements for a Portland resident. Through rolling up our sleeves, we were reminded of what’s possible when organizations come together around a common purpose, that many hands make light work, and a few hours of effort can have a big effect on an individual's life.

Thanks to the CEP crew for having us out — we can’t wait for our next day of service!

When OEC helped pass the Toxic-Free Cosmetics Act in 2023, a key focus of the legislation was protecting Oregon's most marginalized communities from toxics in the products they use. This new study clearly shows the deeply engrained environmental racism that makes the policy so critical. OHA is set to adopt the new rules by January 1, 2027 — when they do, it's imperative that braiding hair products are covered in the scope, and kept free from heavy metals and harmful organic compounds.

Consumer Reports' second braiding hair study finds heavy metals and volatile organic compounds in most products. An Oregon legislator called it environmental racism.

🍷 Soter Vineyards is setting the standard for how Willamette Valley wineries can adapt to a changing climate and protect the future while producing delicious wine. We sat down with Soter’s Viticulturist, Emily Rozga, to learn more about their focus on biodynamic agriculture, climate resilience, and the future of sustainable winemaking.
