Nara Tea, a 2026 Silver Sponsor, is hosting multiple special events offering a rare opportunity to experience the living tradition behind the matcha whisk.

Visiting from Japan, Tango Tanimura, a 20th-generation Takayama chasen master, will share the story, philosophy, and craftsmanship behind the bamboo whisk used in Japanese tea culture for over 500 years.

Today, there are only 16 officially recognized Takayama chasen masters in Japan, making this a unique opportunity to meet and learn directly from one of the few artisans preserving this historic craft.

Through live demonstrations, guests will witness the remarkable skill required to transform a single piece of bamboo into a finely crafted chasen, an essential tool that shapes the texture and character of matcha.

Head over to or narateacompany.com for more info and tickets. 🍵✨

Join us for a Community Tea Social in support of Cup of Tea...

Recently, a car crashed into the shop, forcing them to close their doors for several days. Anyone who knows the team behind Cup of Tea knows how much heart they’ve poured into creating a warm, welcoming space for the tea community. Over the years, they’ve generously supported TeaFestPDX and have always shown up for our nonprofit and for tea lovers across the greater Portland area. Now it’s our turn to show up for them.

This Tea Social is simply an opportunity for our community to gather, share tea, and spend time together in the spirit that Cup of Tea has always fostered. For a $10 ticket, guests will be able to taste a variety of teas, connect with fellow tea lovers, and enjoy a relaxed evening centered around the thing that brings us all together: tea. There will also be an opportunity to purchase teas from Cup of Tea’s wonderful selection to take home and enjoy.

Even if you can’t attend in person, you’re still welcome to purchase a ticket and be part of the community spirit behind the gathering.

Our Tea Social will be held at:

Cup of Tea
10117 SE Sunnyside Rd
Clackamas, OR 97015

Saturday, April 11th,  5pm - 7pm

We hope you’ll join us for tea, conversation, and community. Tickets available on our website and through the link in our bio.

The NW Wu-Wo Tea Association is based in Portland, Oregon. The group has been active since 2007. We gather on the second Sunday of each month to celebrate tea in community. The Wu-Wo tea ceremony is done outdoors, where participants can be with nature, tea, and community. When the weather does not permit outdoor Wu-Wo, members gather to discuss and explore Chinese tea culture and practice different ways of brewing and tasting tea. The association frequently presents Wu-Wo tea ceremony to the public throughout the year. Our goal is to encourage the flowering of tea culture in the Pacific Northwest through appreciation of a gracious tea ceremony while enjoying a heartwarming cup of tea.

For this ceremony training, you may either borrow a complete tea brewing kit or build your own. If you choose to build your own, go to NW Wu-Wo Tea Association website for an equipment list and short how-to video. Hot water will be provided on site, but bring a thermos.

Tickets can be purchased online on TeaFestPDX.com - 2 options to choose from! Any additional questions can be directed to [email protected]

✨ Slow down. Soften. Sip.

Join us for a deeply grounding experience that blends the stillness of Yin Yoga with the gentle ritual of Mindful Tea Meditation.

In Yin Yoga, we linger in postures for several quiet minutes, allowing the body to open, the breath to deepen, and the mind to settle. Supported by props and guided into stillness, this meditative practice reaches beyond muscles into the connective tissues, helping release tension and restore balance.
As we emerge from our Yin practice, we’ll flow seamlessly into a mindful tea meditation, an invitation to awaken the senses and appreciate the journey of tea from leaf to cup. Through sight, scent, touch, and taste, we’ll explore tea as a teacher of presence, gratitude, and connection.

Each sip becomes a moment of mindfulness, a gentle reminder to savor what is here, now.

Whether you’re new to Yin or an experienced practitioner, this workshop offers a peaceful pause for body, mind, and spirit, a space to breathe, reflect, and simply be. If you have a yoga mat, please bring it with you. If not, one will be provided for you.

Sooner or later, many people who dive into tea end up interested in gongfu cha. They likely see it early on, but without much context or guidance. And over time, it becomes clear that this traditional tea practice is a core pathway into experiencing tea on a deeper level. But how do you get started? And how can we make gongfu cha – with all the accessories, the staging, the brewing ratios and rules, etc – feel more accessible? Less overwhelming? That’s what we’ll be exploring in this playful and affirming workshop! Learn about the basic tools – and accessible substitutes – to create your own personal gongfu tea practice. Plus, experiment through real time brewing exercises on how to find the sweet spot for the level of engagement that works for your mood and energy.

Hosted by Sooz from Being Tea, from the inclusive awareness that not everyone has unlimited budget, space, time, or energy for a practice that demands a narrow aesthetic. Tea should be enjoyable and personally fulfilling, not performative and anxiety-causing. All are welcome, whether you’re completely new to gongfu tea brewing, or you have years of experience but some new feelings of overwhelm to work through in these intense times.

Tickets available on our website our through Instagram bio link ✨🤍

Led by Andrea of The Jasmine Pearl Tea Co, slow down and experience tea as a full-bodied meditation. In this guided session, we’ll engage all of our senses — sight, sound, touch, scent, and taste — to connect deeply with each stage of tea preparation and drinking. Through mindful observation and reflection, we’ll quiet the mind, awaken sensory awareness, and find presence in a simple cup of tea.

Bring a journal and pen to capture your impressions, sensations, and any insights that arise during the practice. No prior meditation or tea experience is needed — just curiosity and an open heart.

The class will be held at in SE Mt. Tabor — an idyllic little greenhouse that hosts intimate, heart-warming events. The space will be heated, but you’re always welcome to bring a blanket if you’d like to feel extra cozy!

For this event, we’ll have two seatings:
#1 •11am-12:30pm
#2 •1pm - 2:30pm

Date: Sunday, December 14th
Location: Greenhouse Gatherings, SE Mt. Tabor* (exact address will be sent atleast 24 hrs prior to class)

We want to make sure that everyone who wants to attend this class is able to. Please consider “paying it forward” by purchasing an additional ticket if you feel called to and are able. If you would like to attend, but cannot afford a ticket, please reach out to inquire about available “Pay it forward” tickets.
