Announcing as the first ever Salmon-Safe certified transit agency. Community Transit’s operations and administrative campuses span approximately 50 acres of paved surfaces, rooftops, and buildings. Stormwater runoff from bus yards, maintenance areas, etc, can contain trace pollutants such as oil, brake dust, tire particles, and heavy metals. All of this can impact local waterways when rain carries these pollutants into storm drains. As a Salmon-Safe certified operation, Community Transit will be working towards water quality protection goals identified by our independent science team and reporting on its progress with respect to helping reduce downstream impacts on Puget Sound tributaries.

Earlier this month, Salmon-Safe partnered with the inaugural Fest in Hood River to celebrate Oregon-grown certified hops through our Drinker’s Choice Fresh Hop Beer Competition!

Festivalgoers sipped their beers and voted, and the resounding crowd favorite was “Fill Your Cup Fresh Hop IPA” by Brewery of Hood River brewed with Salmon-Safe certified Simcoe hops from in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. The winning brewery is awarded a year of Wild Caught Alaskan Salmon via ’sWIld, while the winning farm gets some branded workwear swag!

“We take pride in caring for and growing our hops with the health of our local waterways top of mind,” said 7th generation hop farmer Max Coleman of Coleman Agriculture.

“Living in the Gorge for twenty years, the river has been part of our daily life in a variety of ways. It’s rewarding to reflect that connection in our beer by brewing with Salmon-Safe hops,” said Kyle Larsen, co-owner of King’s and Daughters [📸 #3 picture of co-owners, Larsen & Kacie McMackin by ].

By choosing Salmon-Safe hops, brewers help protect water quality, conserve habitat, and support the cool, clean rivers that wild salmon depend on. 🌊🍻

Thank you and Lee Perry for collaborating with us on this great competition, and thanks to the participating farms and brewers who’re leading the way on brewing great beer with conservation-focused hops!

Salmon-Safe is proud to partner with the Hood River Orchard and Ale Fest this
weekend to promote sustainably grown hops and the beers brewed with them!

Salmon-Safe works with PNW hop growers to farm in a way that protects our watersheds and the cool, clean water that salmon need to thrive. Thanks to forward thinking hop
farmers, many of your local fresh-hop beers are made with hops grown this way. The
Orchard and Ale Fest this weekend is a great showcase of over a dozen of these
delicious Salmon-Safe fresh hop beers!

To celebrate these special beers, Salmon-Safe is sponsoring a Fresh Hop Drinker’s
Choice Competition at the festival. Look for beers with the Salmon-Safe logo at the
festival, and when you find your favorite, cast your ballot. Salmon-Safe will also be
giving away two letterpress American Hop posters from , so stop by the
Salmon-Safe booth on Saturday to learn more about protecting salmon with your beer
choices. Cheers! 🍻🐟

Extending our watershed-based environmental certification program across the North Pacific, Salmon-Safe has certified three rice farms near Kobe, Japan!

Sake Brewery TEN, sourcing the certified rice, will be the first Salmon-Safe certified product in Japan. The pilot project is a partnership between Salmon-Safe and Super Normal, a Tokyo-based sustainability firm, leveraging the local MEGURU sustainability initiative for rice growers that focuses on carbon-neutral farming methods.

Sake is the latest Salmon-Safe certified beverage product, in addition to craft beer, wine, cider, whiskey, and many other agricultural products!

joins in raising a glass to Oregon-bred and Oregon-grown hops. Though their inaugural Homegrown Collaboration project, Celebrate Oregon Beer is highlighting Strata — one of Oregon’s most successful recent hop releases from Portland-based Indie Hops. The statewide collaboration features Strata beers brewed by more than two dozen breweries and grown on nine hop farms in Oregon. We invite you to explore how environmentally innovative hop growing is helping to protect native fish. Cheers to Oregon hop farmers committed to watershed conservation, to suppliers like who prioritize having their varieties grown on Salmon-Safe certified farms, and to the brewers bringing Salmon-Safe Oregon hops to the people!

Strata beers are being poured in the taprooms of participating breweries around Oregon, and this weekend will be featured via tap takeovers in Hood River and Bend at the following locations:

Hood River: (208 Oak St), June 6-8
Bend: (787 NE Purcell Blvd), June 7-8

Visit CelebrateOregonBeer.org for a complete list of participating breweries.

Together — hop growers and suppliers, brewers and consumers—are making a big impact by supporting Salmon-Safe through action. Cheers to great beer, brewed with passion and infused with flavor from responsibly-grown hops!

On this we celebrate the Salmon-Safe certified farms that are putting on-farm biodiversity at the core of their stewardship practices. By protecting and restoring on-farm habitat, these growers create vital refuges for salmon, native fish, pollinators, and other endemic wildlife. Their commitment goes beyond compliance—it’s about cultivating working landscapes that support climate resiliency and sustain healthy ecosystems.
