Peter, our 2 year old 9 pound chihuahua mix, won Best Smile when we put together our Stumptown Strays yearbook. It was no contest, really. He’s keen to show off his pearly whites when he’s happy, which is all of the time. We can’t wait to see his smile when we tell him we found him a home.

Found stray, Peter was likely hit by a car. His rear leg was badly damaged and, sadly, could not be saved. We took him in to amputate his leg and get him ready for adoption. Now that he’s healed, Peter is learning that tripods can do anything 4 legged dogs can do.

We would be hard pressed to find a negative thing to say about Peter. The closest we can come up with is that he periodically marks a chair that other dogs in his foster home have marked. But, really, that’s just Peter trying to fit in! Otherwise Peter is perfectly potty and crate trained. He loves greeting his foster family in the morning and always showcases his award winning grin.

At home, Peter has been great with other dogs and respectfully ignores cats. He is generally very quiet. Peter is energetic and playful, and loves a game of fetch. He also requires chew toys; otherwise Peter may make a chew toy out of the tassels on your pillow. Peter has never met a stranger and is remarkably friendly and cuddly.

Peter is heartworm negative and current on his preventatives. His adoption fee is $400.

Fettuccine, our 10 year old 10 pound chihuahua, recently had a great idea. She thought maybe if she had her very own celebrity photoshoot done, someone might notice her and want her to be a part of their family.

We totally agreed that fancy photos could catch her forever human’s eye! She told us to hurry up and call the paparazzi or get her to JCPenney for a Glamour Shot session. We’re not sure who told her about either of those things, but she didn’t know the difference when our awesome volunteer came around with her camera and took these great pics.

Fettuccine did her best posing and, honestly, we think she looks amazing. What do you think? Isn’t this the face of a girl who deserves a forever home?? Plus her adoption fee is sponsored!!

If this is a face you want to wake up to every day, you can head on over to our website to learn more about her and apply to adopt today! The link is in our bio. 💙🐾

ADOPTED!

Bear, our 1 year old border collie mix, came to us with a severely broken leg. Unfortunately, his leg couldn’t be fixed and we needed to amputate. Fortunately, removal of the leg also removed the pain he was in and, as you know if you’ve followed us for a while, tripod dogs can basically do anything their 4 legged brethren can!

Once healed from surgery, Bear was ready to find his forever home. He didn’t have to look very far though, because his foster human’s neighbors met him on his healing journey and fell in love! Mattie, her husband, and their kids were looking to bring a pup into their family and we’re so pleased that Bear was a match for them. Bear gets to play with his new human siblings, explore his world, and go on plenty of daytrips and adventures. And as always and most importantly, get so many cuddles and so much love from his forever family.

Congratulations Bear! 🐾💙

Fettuccine, our 10 year old 10 pound chihuahua is still searching for her own family!

This sweet girl LOVES her people and would be so thrilled to be your permanent lap dog. She’ll wiggle her whole body and bring you a toy when you get home (although she wouldn’t mind if you were just, you know, always home or with her!)

She came to us in rough shape and now that she’s doing better really wants to find her forever home. Does she look like your next best friend? Learn all about her on our website and apply to adopt today! The link is in our bio. 💙🐾

ADOPTED!

Vodka’s puppies, Tuna Melt, Ginger Ale, and Blueberry Smoothie were so lucky to be found with their momma and brought into one of our cozy foster homes to get the best start in their life! Once they were old enough, they each found their very own forever homes to continue growing into super awesome adult dogs.

Tuna Melt, now Jack, found his with Tamara and her husband. Ginger Ale, now Skye, found hers with Jeanne and her family. And Blueberry Smoothie, now Bunny, found hers with Savanna and her family.

All of the puppies are busy working on their puppy business (you know, chewing inappropriate things, being the most adorable menaces in town, and giving their families so much love and joy!) They’re getting training and being introduced to the world. We’re so excited for the adventures ahead of them.

Congratulations kids! 🐾💙

ADOPTED!

Vodka, now Sunny, our 1 year old chihuahua mix, came to us after being found stray with puppies. She needed somewhere safe to raise her puppies and once they were old enough to be adopted out, she was freed from the responsibility of future motherhood (aka spayed) and we set out to find her a perfect home too.

She needed humans that would understand that she needed time to warm up and is a bit timid. Jo and her wife were looking for a small dog to add to their family and weren’t put off at all by timidness. We couldn’t be more pleased that Sunny was a match! She was fast friends with their dog and cats and happily settled in with her humans, who absolutely love her. Even though Sunny had babies, she’s really still a baby herself, and she gets to have a fun time now being young - traveling, camping, and having a blast with her family and getting all the care and cuddles she deserves.

Congratulations Sunny! 🐾💙

ADOPTED!

Naomi, now Norma, our 2 year old chihuahua mix, came our way after being found stray and pregnant. She needed a safe space to raise her puppy, and then get spayed, and we were happy to be able to help her. Once her pup was old enough to leave the nest, we eagerly started the search for sweet Norma.

Dorothy and Keith had sadly lost their pup a couple years ago at the amazing age of 18 and they were finally ready to add another 4 legged friend to their family. Norma was a perfect match! She spent some time decompressing and happily learning the routine in her new home. She’s been enjoying exploring her neighborhood as well as going on sniffaris in parks around town! We’re told she’s loving being cozy when the adventures are done and is loving snuggling up in her sweaters and blankets (as you can see in this adorable collage her humans sent our way!) We simply couldn’t be more pleased for her.

Congratulations Norma! 🐾💙

ADOPTED!

Frank, our 2 year old Manchester Terrier, came to us because our local shelter was concerned about the loud heart murmur they heard. We were able to get Frank into a cardiologist, thanks to for covering his care in its entirety, where he was diagnosed with congenital heart abnormalities. Frank can’t be cured, but his issues can be managed. And with 15/10 Foundation also sponsoring his future cardiology appointments and heart medications, he was in the best possible position to start searching for a forever home.

Sarah was looking for a four legged best friend, and Frank was lucky enough to be the one! Frank loves to go on walks and explore his world and he’s thrilled to be able to do that with Sarah. Now that spring is in full effect here in the PNW, he gets to go on some hikes and even hang at bar patios with his human (which are our favorite things to do, so it sounds perfect if you ask us!) This little guy gets all the love and attention he deserves and we simply couldn’t be happier.

Congratulations Frank! 🐾💙

Fettuccine, our 10 pound 10 year old chihuahua, loves when her people come home. She wiggles her whole body and brings them a stuffed animal - just in case they need one after a long day at work. Then, Fettuccine settles in to her favorite place to be - in her person’s arms. Fettuccine is finally healthy enough to find her own family to carry her around.

Found stray, Fettuccine had terrible dental disease. She was also very thin and had two mammary masses that needed to be removed. After weeks of regular meals, Fettuccine was healthy enough for surgery. We spayed her, extracted several painfully infected teeth, and removed her masses. Although one of the masses came back as a low grade carcinoma (cancer), we are hopeful the surgery was curative. Like any dog that has to wait until she’s 10 to be spayed, Fettuccine may be prone to more mammary masses in the future.

Fettuccine loves people. She is remarkably cuddly and would prefer to live with someone who wants a chihuahua in their lap every time they sit down. Fettuccine is great on a leash and loves to greet other dogs when out and about.

At home, Fettuccine is tolerant of her dog roommates. However, likely due to her previous starvation, Fettuccine resource guards her food from other dogs. Until she’s very comfortable, she also guards people’s laps from other dogs. For this reason, Fettuccine may prefer to be the only pet or should live with patient dogs as she decompresses.

Fettuccine is heartworm negative and is current on her flea and heartworm preventatives. Her adoption fee is $150.

Is there room on your lap for a very deserving chihuahua? Would your day be better if someone handed you a stuffed animal when you got home? Apply to adopt on our website today! https://www.stumptownstrays.org/adoption-application 💙🐾

ADOPTED!

Barbara, now Loki, our 3 year old husky mix came to us after she was found stray with a shoelace imbedded tightly around her neck. We happily took her in to give her the time and care she needed to recover from that deep wound. Once she was healed and ready to find her own forever home, we eagerly started the search.

We knew this sweet girl would make an amazing family but she wasn’t getting much adoption interest. But it’s like we always say…it only takes one perfect application and Loki finally got hers. Gina and Kyle were looking for a new canine bestie to join their family and we’re so pleased that Loki was a match. She took the first week in her new home to observe her new humans and their habits and then slipped right into her place with them. Loki gets to enjoy playing and cuddling up with her humans, exploring and adventuring with them, and just enjoying her best life.

Congratulations Loki! 🐾💙
