This month, we celebrate the resilience, joy, and contributions of LGBTQ+ people across Arizona and beyond. Pride began as a movement for liberation, and that fight continues today as our communities face ongoing attacks on our rights, dignity, and ability to live authentically.

At Equality Arizona, Pride is more than a celebration—it’s a commitment to building a state where every LGBTQ+ person can thrive. From advocating at the Capitol to supporting local leaders and empowering voters, we are working every day to create a more just and inclusive Arizona.

As we honor those who paved the way, we also recognize the responsibility we share to protect the progress we’ve made and continue pushing forward. Pride belongs to all of us—and together, our voices are stronger than ever.

From our schools and public safety systems to healthcare access, civil rights protections, and economic opportunity, the decisions made closest to home often have the greatest impact on our communities. Through our committee process, we’ve identified leaders who understand that local and state government can be a force for positive change when it is responsive, representative, and accountable to the people it serves.

Today we honor the service members who gave their lives in service to our country—including those in the LGBTQ+ community who served while forced to hide who they were, and those who carried the weight of discrimination alongside their duty. Their courage, sacrifice, and commitment helped shape the freedoms we continue to fight for today.

On Memorial Day, we remember those we lost and recognize the generations of LGBTQ+ people who served with honor, resilience, and love for their communities and country. We carry their stories forward and recommit ourselves to building a future where everyone can serve, live, and exist with dignity.
