Policies can shape our schools, workplaces, healthcare, communities, and everyday lives—but they can also be complicated, filled with legal language, and difficult to follow.

Taking the time to understand what a policy actually does helps us separate facts from headlines and talking points, have more informed conversations with our communities, understand how decisions affect the people around us, ask better questions of our elected and community leaders, and participate more meaningfully in civic life.

You don't have to be a policy expert to be informed. With our voter guide we hope to provide a deeper understanding of the issues on the ballot without all the jargon. Visit www.equalityarizona.org to download a copy of the guide today so you can start planning for the election in November.

An informed community is an empowered community.

For four years, Governor Hobbs has been the last line of defense for LGBTQ+ Arizonans. She has vetoed every bill the legislature sent her targeting le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender, and q***r Arizonans, including bathroom bans, locker room bans, birth certificate restrictions, and attempts to write trans people out of state law entirely. In 2023, she went further, issuing executive orders barring state funds from supporting conversion therapy and guaranteeing that state employees can access the health care they need. She said she would not sign legislation that attacks Arizonans, and she kept her word.

John Giles kept his, too. As Mayor of Mesa, he championed the city’s nondiscrimination ordinance in 2021 that included protections in employment, housing, and public accommodations, and stood by it when outside groups tried to overturn it at the ballot. He did it
as a Republican, in Arizona’s third-largest city, after years of work with business owners, families, and faith leaders at the same table.

Equality Arizona and ONE Community worked alongside Mayor Giles to pass the ordinance and stood with him through the Mesa Loves Everyone campaign to defend it. We know how hard he worked to get it done, because we were there working alongside him.

That’s a ticket every Arizonan can support and one we are proud to endorse. A governor who has never wavered, and a lieutenant governor who has already shown how you get equality done in a state like ours, by bringing people in rather than running them over. Arizona deserves leaders who put people ahead of party.

We are proud to endorse this ticket.

Congratulations to Amish Shan, for winning his primary election!

This was a contested primary filled with outstanding candidates who stepped forward to serve their communities. We are grateful to everyone who put their name on the ballot, shared their vision, and engaged voters throughout the campaign. A strong democracy depends on people willing to lead, and this election showcased the incredible talent and commitment across Arizona.

Now, we turn our attention to November. Together, we’ll continue organizing, mobilizing voters, and supporting candidates who will fight for equality, protect our fundamental freedoms, and build an Arizona where everyone can thrive.

We are proud to endorse Amish Shah as he continues his campaign to represent Arizona’s 1st Congressional District in the General Election this November.

Congratulations to our endorsed candidates who won their primary elections!

We’re proud to celebrate another strong showing, with 86% of Equality Arizona’s endorsed candidates advancing to the general election. These victories reflect the power of grassroots organizing, community leadership, and voters who believe in building an Arizona where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.

To every candidate, volunteer, donor, and voter who made these wins possible—thank you. Your work is helping shape a stronger, more inclusive future for our state.

But our work isn’t finished.

Now it’s time to turn our attention to November. The general election is our opportunity to elect leaders who will stand up for equality, protect our rights, and help flip the House and Senate by supporting candidates who share our values.

Let’s keep this momentum going. Make a plan to vote, encourage your friends and family to do the same, and let’s show what’s possible when our communities turn out.

See you at the polls this November.
