When Governor Jane Hull began the Arizona K12 Center in 1999, she placed it at Northern Arizona University, originally a teachers college. As a part of the Northern Arizona University College of Education, several of our staff traveled to Flagstaff to join in the college's back-to-school assembly and hear from new Dean Dr. Yojanna Cuenca-Carlino.

The back-to-school energy is now in full-swing for both K-12 schools and higher education!

This first Beginning Teacher Series event of the school year will explore the questions new teachers ask most: how do I make my values visible in daily practice, how do I respond to behavior without losing the relationship, and how do I create real ownership instead of just compliance?

Dig deeper into drafting expectations, designing routines, and planning experiences that put students at the center of the learning, where they do the thinking. Through guided practice, small-group discussion, and reflection time, you will leave with a clear, personalized starting point for the year, along with a companion card deck to keep those ideas close at hand.

Ready, Set, Teach: Putting Ideas into Practice brings the themes of classroom culture, expectations and routines, and student engagement from this Ready, Set, Teach video series to life: https://youtu.be/_EJz-KvvNf4?si=-mubptURHm5FWY6f
