Prop. 320 might sound like a win for classrooms at first glance, but the fine print tells a very different story. Don’t let it fool you.

It’s a classic bait-and-switch: Prop. 320 doesn’t guarantee a single dollar in teacher raises, and it adds absolutely no new funding to Arizona schools.

Instead, it asks us to vote on rules that won’t even be written until after the election, giving an unelected bureaucrat total power to decide what "counts" as classroom spending.

And if already underfunded schools can’t meet these undefined targets? They’ll face massive budget cuts. That means instead of helping, Prop. 320 could lead to teacher pay cuts and force schools to slash the critical staff our kids rely on every day, like counselors, nurses, and special education support.

Arizona’s public schools need genuine investment, not confusing mandates and escalating penalties.

It is a classic bait-and-switch: Prop 320 doesn’t guarantee a single dollar in teacher raises, adds no new funding to schools, and asks voters to sign off on rigid budget rules that an unelected auditor will write after the election. To make matters worse, schools that cannot comply with these undefined mandates risk losing critical funding, which could lead to teacher pay cuts and fewer resources for counselors, nurses, and special education support.

School is about more than instruction. Schools provide critical supports that help children learn, grow, and thrive- from behavioral and physical health services to special education, food services, transportation, and family support. When those supports aren't available when a child needs them, it can affect their educational journey. Watch as Noah and his friends experience what could happen when the school supports they rely on are no longer there.

Prop. 320 does not provide new funding for teacher raises or additional school resources. Instead, it asks voters to approve a new spending rule without defining which expenses will count as instruction. Those rules would be written after voters approve the measure, and schools that cannot comply could lose funding used for teacher pay and student support.
