Arizona Bleeding Disorders Dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for people with inherited bleeding disorders.

Bleeding disorders are life-threatening, debilitating, and expensive to treat with many physical, emotional and social challenges. A child with severe Hemophilia will spend over $150,000 annually to prevent bleeding. Some children and adults build up inhibitors to the treatment and the costs can exceed $1,000,000 per year. Failure to preventatively treat the disorder can result in prolonged painful bleeds that cause permanent and severe damage. Proper medical care and an ability to manage through the ‘insurance maze’ becomes paramount. Teens need to fully appreciate the importance of getting a quality education so that they can get a job with sufficient insurance. The entire family is affected by the bleeding disorder physically, emotionally, and financially. With over 40 years experience, we are the only agency in the state of Arizona that provides programs and services to people affected by bleeding disorders so that they can better cope with their disorder and can become self-advocates for themselves and/or their family. We partner with Hemophilia Treatment Centers, other agencies, and medical professionals to provide programs and services unique to the bleeding disorder community to best meet their needs.

Take us back to YETI 2026!

We’re always so excited to go back each year. YETI is a national conference hosted by Pacific Northwest Bleeding Disorders, at a campsite just outside Portland, Oregon, and focused on strengthening teen programming across the bleeding disorders community. It’s a great opportunity for our young adults to meet peers from across the country, while our staff get to learn, train, and bring new ideas back to Arizona for our own teen programming.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Israel “Izzy” Soto, a beloved member of the bleeding disorders community.

Israel was known by many names, Izzy to many of us, Wish to his car club family, but his favorite title was Dad. His daughter was his world.

Despite living with chronic pain and many challenges, Izzy never lost his smile, warmth, or sense of humor. He had a gift for making people laugh, whether he was telling a joke, sharing a story, or giving you a hard time. But, he could take it just as well as he could dish it out. That laughter, big heart, and unforgettable personality will be deeply missed by so many.

Rest in peace, Izzy. You will never be forgotten.

Spend some time volunteering at the WM Phoenix Open on behalf of Arizona Bleeding Disorders. For every shift we fill, AZBD receives a donation back, and all tips collected at the concessions stands are divided among the nonprofit organizations working the event.

Volunteers will receive a ticket to come back and enjoy the Open on a day of their choosing.

It’s officially Arizona Tax Credit season!

Did you know Arizona taxpayers can support the Arizona Bleeding Disorders community while potentially receiving a state income tax credit?

For the 2026 tax year, eligible taxpayers can contribute up to $506 for individuals and $1,009 for married couples filing jointly through the Arizona Qualifying Charitable Organization Tax Credit.

What a weekend at our Women’s Retreat!

We loved getting women in our community together to try new things, learn alongside one another, and spend time with people who understand. From conversations and education to a trip to the winery, we enjoyed our weekend! We’re so grateful to be able to create spaces like this in our community!

We had SUCH a great weekend at our Teen & Young Adult Retreat!

We went Survivor with tribes, relay races, challenges, experiential art, and time to just hang out together. We also focused on Empowerment through our OWN IT! program and gave participants opportunities to work together, use their voice, and try new things.

By the end of the weekend, everyone dropped their buffs and came back together as one community.

Thank you to everyone who made the weekend so much fun, and a huge thank you to Sanofi and Pfizer for helping make it possible!

Each year, teens and young adults ages 16–25 have the opportunity to build the skills to advocate, use their voice, and make an impact. From public speaking and leadership to budgeting, professional skills, and advocacy, Future Leaders prepares participants to take the next step while learning alongside others in their community.
