The AMVCC was asked to display at the American Legion Classic Car Show Fundraiser. Held at the Sandra Day O'Connor High School on Saturday, 21 March 2026. This event created to help raise funds for a new American Legion Post serving the Peoria community. An early heatwave caused the show to slide earlier than expected, but POC Lance had a great time.

Two military vehicle clubs combined forces to support the MVET, Maricopa Veterans Education Taskforce (MVET) in a yearly fundraiser. The AMVCC and Arizona Historical Military Transport Association (AHMTA) both brought vehicles for display at Boo and Henry's BBQ (Memphis Pit BBQ) at 16500 N Scottsdale Rd just south of Bell/FL Wright in Scottsdale. Boo and Henry's hosted the event and provided a special menu for supporters. All had a great time. Photos taken by Rob

For Sale: 1984 M1028A3 military CUCV dually. 15,000 original miles.

The M1028 CUCV (Commercial Utility Cargo Vehicle) is a heavy-duty, 1.25-ton military pickup truck built by General Motors in the 1980s, based on the Chevy K30 platform, featuring a 6.2L diesel engine, 4x4, and designed for non-combat roles like hauling shelters (command/comms units) with its robust chassis, often with dual rear wheels, and equipped with military features like slave-start and pintle hooks, though limited to 55 mph.

Key Characteristics:
Base Vehicle: Chevrolet K30 (or D30) platform.
Engine: 6.2L Detroit Diesel V8.
Drivetrain: 4x4, typically with an automatic transmission (3-speed) and limited-slip front differential on M1028s.
Payload: Rated for 1.25 tons (5/4 Ton) with heavier-duty components than standard CUCVs.
Purpose: Designed to carry mobile shelters (like communications or intelligence units) on its bed, hence "shelter carrier".
Speed: Governed to a maximum speed of 55 mph.
Military Features: Included slave-start capability (jump-starting other vehicles), pintle hooks for towing, weapon holders, and provisions for NBC (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical) protection kits, notes Vehicle Nanny.
Variants: M1028A2 and A3 models often featured dual rear wheels (duallies) due to the high center of gravity when carrying heavy shelters, a modification sometimes done at the unit level.
This 1984 M1028 has been used by the Air Force and has 15,000 miles. It starts right up and runs very smooth. Fly in and drive it home with no worries. No rust, and even the bed is uncut under the dialysis fenders. Comes with shelter mounting brackets. I may even know someone that will sell you the radio shelter to complete this collectible truck. Like new tires, $12,000

The 2025 SAR (Small Arms Review) West Gun Show. The club had a small but loyal display at the Arizona state fairgrounds at 19th avenue and McDowell in Phoenix AZ, the weekend of 06 DEC 2025. The club has shown vehicles at many Bob and Rob Templeton "Crossroads of the West" gun shows through the 1990's. In 2000 through the direction of then VP John Hannigsberg, we partnered with Dan and Debbie Shea of Machine-Gun News / Long Mountain Outfitters / Chipotle Publishing / Small Arms Review to display at all SAR trade shows at the AZ fairgrounds. This marks our 25th event. Photos haphazardly taken by Rob.
