On August 15th, 1879 Arizona Lodge No. 2 received their dispensation to form a lodge in Phoenix. The following day, on August 16th this advertisement appeared in the Phoenix Weekly Herald announcing their stated meeting. According to the minutes of the lodge, at the first stated meeting on August 19th, Arizona No. 2 signed a lease for $50.00/mth which they would split with the Oddfellows. That lease was at the Irvine Building. Edward Irvine is credited with building the first two story brick building in town of Phoenix, known as the Irvine Building or the "Irvine Block."
