Her dad John came to us through our Keys to Change program in need of the basics: dog food, a harness, a bowl. What he found was so much more.

Athena, his loving and loyal brindle terrier mix, was rescued by John's brother from an abusive home. The moment John met her, he knew she was his.

Senior homelessness is one of the fastest-growing housing crises in Arizona. Rising rents, fixed incomes, and non-renewed leases are pushing more older adults into housing instability than ever before.

For seniors who have a pet, that crisis carries an extra weight: the fear of having to give them up.

Pets aren't a luxury for aging adults. They're a lifeline. Companionship. Purpose. For many seniors, that bond is one of the few constants in an increasingly uncertain time.

This National Senior Citizens Day, we're proud to help keep seniors and their pets together. No matter the generation, The Arizona Pet Project is committed to removing pet-related barriers to accessing human care for vulnerable individuals and households across Arizona. 🐾

Arizona sidewalks in the summer are brutal for unprotected paws. 🥵 Thanks to our community's generosity, we're able to send even more booties out to our partner organizations helping dogs beat the heat for the rest of the summer.

Overpopulation starts long before an animal ends up in a shelter. It starts with access. For low-income, vulnerable, and disproportionately impacted households across Arizona, affordable spay/neuter care isn't always within reach.

That's why we help fund low-cost clinics who go to them. Our partners deliver low-cost surgeries directly to the communities that need them most. This International Homeless Animals' Day, we're celebrating our roots because every surgery is one step closer to a future with fewer animals left without homes. 🐾

The award recognizes our first-of-its-kind program with UMOM New Day Centers helping individuals and families keep their pets with them through emergency shelter and permanent housing.
