We have two new board members to welcome! Join us in giving a warm welcome to Dr. Susan Herman and Brooke Lord. We are so glad to have them both!
Brooke is a Texas A&M University alum with a bachelor's degree in Political Science who moved to Phoenix in 2021 for work and a change of scenery, saying "I love to try new things!" Brooke has epilepsy and is an Account Manager at a finance company, as well as very passionate about helping others - specifically those with epilepsy. In her free time, she loves to hike, travel, write, do photography, volunteer, and learn new languages. Currently, she is learning German. Brooke shares that she is "super excited to join the Board, learn new things, and help others!"
Susan T. Herman, MD is Professor and Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs in the Neurology Department at Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, AZ. After receiving her MD from Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons, she completed her neurology residency and epilepsy/clinical neurophysiology fellowship at the Neurological Institute of New York at Columbia University. Dr. Herman’s clinical expertise includes treatment of drug resistant epilepsy with new medications, epilepsy surgery, and devices. She is a national leader in EEG technology and interpretation, including continuous EEG in the intensive care unit. More recently, she has focused her clinical research on standardization, protocol development, and quality improvement in EEG and epilepsy care. Dr. Herman is Past President of the National Association of Epilepsy Centers and of the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society. She is an active member of the Epilepsy Learning Healthcare System, a national network of epilepsy centers, advocacy organizations, and patients and families who are working together to improve epilepsy care and outcomes.
