“Water, Daddy, water.”

When Ted’s two-year-old son woke him in the middle of the night asking for water, Ted had no idea that the simple moment would help confirm a major decision.

Earlier that evening, Ted had prayed for clarity about whether God was calling him to serve on our board at Food for the Hungry.

As he walked back to bed after giving his son water and singing “Jesus Loves Me” (by his toddler's request!), it hit him:

He had just given his son clean water and sung to him about Jesus. That was what Food for the Hungry was doing for children and families around the world.

Ted took it as God’s answer: “Yes.”

That “yes” led to 15 years of service on the Food for the Hungry board. Now, Ted and his wife, Lucy, have included Food for the Hungry in their estate plans so their commitment can continue for generations to come.

What we choose to give can become part of the legacy we leave behind.

On this last day of Make a Will Month, consider how your faith and the things you value can shape the future long after you’re gone.

Pray for Nepal. 🇳🇵

Devastating flash floods have swept through communities in Nepal, destroying homes, roads and livelihoods. Families are grieving, loved ones are missing, and rescue teams are working in dangerous conditions to reach those who need help.

🙏 Pray for those who are missing and for families facing unimaginable loss.

Pray for protection for rescuers, provision for families who have lost so much, and peace for communities facing uncertainty.

Lord, be near to the people of Nepal. Bring hope in the midst of devastation and remind them they are not forgotten.

When families have access to clean water close to home, it means more than having water to drink. It can mean better health, more time for school and work, stronger livelihoods and greater opportunity for the future.

Food for the Hungry works alongside communities to improve access to safe water and strengthen the systems that help communities continue to thrive.

Water is essential to life. And when people have access to it, they have greater opportunity to pursue a healthier, more hopeful future.
