Our Mission is to remove the barriers that stand in the way of their independence and enable full and equal participation across all aspects of life. At Vision Ireland, we are committed to advocating for a society where accessibility and inclusivity are the norm, helping people with vision impairments live confidently and independently. As part of our mission to empower people who are blind or vision impaired and break down barriers to independence, we value open dialogue, understanding, and compassion. To ensure this space reflects our core values of respect, inclusion, and dignity, we ask that all users adhere to the following guidelines:

1. Respect for All: We expect everyone to engage with kindness and respect. Abuse, bullying, harassment, or discriminatory language of any kind will not be tolerated.
2. No Tolerance for Harm: Content that is harmful, threatening, misleading, spreading misinformation or falsehoods or intended to demean others will be removed, and repeat offenders may be banned.
3. Constructive Dialogue: We encourage open conversations, but please ensure your comments contribute positively to the discussion and align with our mission to support individuals living with sight loss.
4. Privacy and Safety: Do not share personal information about yourself or others. We respect everyone's right to privacy and expect the same from our community. By being part of our social media community, you are helping us promote a positive, empowering environment for all. Best of luck to all students sitting exams over the coming days and weeks, and to the parents supporting them along the way.

We know it’s a challenging time, but remember, exams are just one moment, not the whole story.
Do your best, look after yourselves, and keep things in perspective.

When you shop at or donate to our stores, you’re not only supporting crucial services but also contributing to a more sustainable future.

But remember, they are not dumping grounds, and the quality of what you give matters enormously.
95% of all clothing donated to Vision Ireland is either sold or recycled, keeping 410 tonnes of waste out of landfill last year alone and avoiding approximately 10.2 million kg of CO2 emissions.

But this impact only happens when donations are made mindfully.

So, before donating, ask yourself these three questions -

1) Would I give this to a family member?
2) Is it clean and in good condition?
3) Would I feel comfortable opening this donation in front of someone?

Unsellable items cost charities valuable time and money to process. Thoughtful donations, on the other hand, help create a thriving circular economy while funding vital services.

Our stores offer a fantastic selection of vintage and designer clothing, homeware, and furniture, all curated to support reuse and reduce environmental waste. All of which goes directly to supporting people who are blind or vision impaired to live confidently and independently.

Despite the ongoing efforts of the Vision Ireland Counselling, Wellbeing and Emotional Support Team, many from our community still report feelings of isolation and loneliness, a challenge we are continuously striving to overcome.

To combat this, we’ve established the Connection Network, a special initiative designed to foster connections and friendship. Through regular phone conversations facilitated by our volunteers, this service aims to bridge the gap of loneliness and offer a warm, friendly voice to those in need.

For those interested in volunteering, training, and ongoing support will be provided to ensure you are equipped to make a meaningful impact.

Please contact Paul Derrig at [email protected] to express your interest in this rewarding opportunity.

At Vision Ireland, we’re dedicated to making a difference in the lives of people who are blind or vision impaired across Ireland. Despite our ongoing efforts, many of our service users report feelings of isolation and loneliness, a challenge we are continuously striving to overcome.
