Parents Plus

Parents Plus Parents Plus is a charity on a mission to strengthen family relationships and achieve the best possible outcomes for children, young people and parents.

Parents Plus is a charity on a mission to strengthen families and improve outcomes for children, young people, and parents by training practitioners and building the capacity of services to deliver evidence-based parenting and mental health programmes. We develop evidence-based parenting and mental health programmes in collaboration with families and services. We train practitioners to deliver and

evaluate these programmes in their organisations and communities, building the capacity of community, mental health, disability, and education services in Ireland and the UK. Our approach embeds evidence-based practices in services, equips teams with solution-focused practice skills, reduces waiting lists, and improves parent engagement. The programmes create lasting, positive outcomes for families, communities, and services. Since 1995, Parents Plus has developed eight programmes for services that adapt to diverse family needs. The programmes offer universal support for all families, preventative solutions for disadvantaged and at-risk families, and targeted interventions for high-need families facing complex challenges. As a charity, all profits from training and materials are reinvested into developing new programmes to meet evolving family needs and sponsoring training and mentoring for services with limited-funding supporting high-need families. After training, practitioners join our Community of Practice, where they receive ongoing mentoring and support with programme implementation and delivery as well as access to additional resources. We believe that continued support is key to successful programme delivery and achieving positive outcomes for children, young people, and families. The Parents Plus Community of Practice is highly-valued by practitioners once they train.

Are you a trained facilitator in the Parents Plus Parenting When Separated Programme?

The revised PWS programme which was launched in March 2026 will increase from six to seven sessions to allow more time for parents. The new format contains new content and materials including:

➡️ Videos from parents who completed PWS, sharing their experiences
➡️Quotes and stories from children and teenagers
➡️Additional input on parent self-care and stress management
➡️Extra input for professionals on managing challenging contexts such as domestic violence, coercive control and parental alienation.

We are holding an additional 3.5 hour training workshop to update you on the new content. The cost of the workshop is €150 which includes the new Parent Book and Facilitators Manual. Anyone who trained in the Parenting When Separated since March 2025 can attend this workshop for free. These workshops will be delivered on 25th June 2026 or 9th September 2026 (9.30am-1pm)

You can book your place on the workshop for trained facilitators here https://www.parentsplus.ie/training/

We are particularly proud of our ongoing Traveller Project in partnership with Tusla. Last year we launched of a series of Traveller Specific Videos developed to complement the Parents Plus Early Years Programme (PPEY) as part of the project. This important development represents a collaborative effort to better engage and support parents from the Traveller community through culturally relevant and empowering resources

Did you know that as well as our scheduled training we offer tailored onsite training?

Parents Plus can provide onsite training in your agency or team which can prove a very cost-effective way of accessing Parents Plus training for your whole team. In addition, we can provide tailored support in the roll-out and evaluation of the programmes to ensure effective community wide delivery. We can also co-host a training with an agency, whereby both Parents Plus and an agency recruit professionals to attend training in a local area.

Please contact us directly at [email protected] if you are interested in hosting a training in your agency.
