Parents Plus

Parents Plus Parents Plus is a charity on a mission to strengthen family relationships and achieve the best possible outcomes for children, young people and parents.

Parents Plus is a charity on a mission to strengthen families and improve outcomes for children, young people, and parents by training practitioners and building the capacity of services to deliver evidence-based parenting and mental health programmes. We develop evidence-based parenting and mental health programmes in collaboration with families and services. We train practitioners to deliver and

evaluate these programmes in their organisations and communities, building the capacity of community, mental health, disability, and education services in Ireland and the UK. Our approach embeds evidence-based practices in services, equips teams with solution-focused practice skills, reduces waiting lists, and improves parent engagement. The programmes create lasting, positive outcomes for families, communities, and services. Since 1995, Parents Plus has developed eight programmes for services that adapt to diverse family needs. The programmes offer universal support for all families, preventative solutions for disadvantaged and at-risk families, and targeted interventions for high-need families facing complex challenges. As a charity, all profits from training and materials are reinvested into developing new programmes to meet evolving family needs and sponsoring training and mentoring for services with limited-funding supporting high-need families. After training, practitioners join our Community of Practice, where they receive ongoing mentoring and support with programme implementation and delivery as well as access to additional resources. We believe that continued support is key to successful programme delivery and achieving positive outcomes for children, young people, and families. The Parents Plus Community of Practice is highly-valued by practitioners once they train.

Join us for this FREE one-hour practice and information session on the Parents Plus ADHD Children’s Programme (6-12yrs).

As our understanding of ADHD continues to evolve, this session offers space to reflect on practice, share learning, and consider how a neuro-affirming, strengths-based approach drives best practice in the delivery of parent support.

Experienced facilitators and managers will share experience and perspectives from delivering the PP-ADHD programme within their services (CAMHS- North Dublin; CAMHS – Gloucestershire NHS), alongside a whistlestop overview of the programme’s content and delivery approach for those new to Parents Plus.

Whether you’re already delivering the programme or new to the Parents Plus community and considering training, this session offers valuable insight into the programme in action, followed by an opportunity to put your questions to our panel.

When learning group facilitation skills practitioners often ask: “What if nobody responds when I ask a question?”
It’s normal for parents to take some time to open up and share their thoughts and experiences, especially in group settings. This doesn’t mean they have nothing to say! It just means they may need a bit more support to feel comfortable speaking up.
As a facilitator, your role is to create an environment where parents feel safe, respected, and connected.

⭐️ Empowering communities through partnerships⭐️

Parents Plus is deeply committed to engaging and supporting parents through culturally relevant, strengths based resources. Through our work with Tusla Traveller Project, operating across 17 areas nationwide, we developed the Parents Plus Early Years (PPEY) Parent Pack and Traveller-specific videos, enhancing programme engagement through empowering and culturally relevant content.

The programme is delivered in local areas by trained Family Link Workers, many of whom come from within the Traveller community themselves, and who are further supported through mentoring and training. The PPEY programme, which comprises fourteen individual topics, was praised at the launch for its flexibility, where the delivery format can be in a group setting or individually delivered to parents in their homes.

To enhance the accessibility and relatability of the PPEY programme for Traveller families, four powerful new videos were created by the Donegal Traveller Project, Tulsa and Parents Plus. These videos offer a deep and authentic insight into the lived experiences of Traveller parents, as well as the strength and resilience that exist within Traveller families.

Our Project Lead, Wendy Taylor, shares why this partnership is so important here https://www.parentsplus.ie/post/parents-plus-early-years-traveller-project-with-tusla/
