πŸ“’ The Department of Justice is considering making it harder for migrants to obtain Irish citizenship.

Longer waiting periods. Language tests. Penalties for using legal social supports.

No clear rationale has been provided. No evidence to support it. And MRCI is calling on the Department to scrap these plans before they go any further.

MRCI, together with 23 organisations - unions, academics and employer bodies, has written a joint letter to Minister Alan Dillon TD calling for real reform of the employment permit system.

Workers on general employment permits deserve the freedom to change jobs, stand up for their rights and leave exploitation behind.

πŸ“’ MRCI has made a submission to Budget 2027 calling for urgent reform of the Irish Residence Permit (IRP) card system.

The IRP card costs migrants €300, while it costs the state just €20.44 to produce and deliver. Processing times are now hitting 16 weeks. People are losing jobs, missing funerals and family milestones because of these delays.

This has to change.

πŸ“„ Read our full submission and write to the Minister today [email protected]
