The rights and freedoms many LGBTQ+ people experience today were shaped by generations who challenged prejudice, demanded change and refused to remain invisible.

From protest movements and public-health activism to legal recognition and greater representation, each milestone tells part of a much bigger story.

Learning LGBTQ+ history is not simply about looking backwards. It helps us understand the progress that has been made, recognise the people who made it possible and remain alert to the work that is still unfinished.

Progress is real, but it is never guaranteed.

Today we recognise International Non-Binary People's Day.

It is an opportunity to celebrate non-binary people while increasing awareness and understanding of gender diversity.

For many people, visibility and recognition can make an enormous difference. Whether you're learning for the first time or supporting someone you know, taking time to understand different gender identities helps create a more inclusive society.

Every person deserves to be respected for who they are.

Many trans people continue to face discrimination, exclusion and barriers to healthcare, employment and everyday life.

Being an ally doesn't require perfection. It requires willingness.

Listen.
Learn.
Respect.
Support.

Small actions can make a meaningful difference.

If you'd like to support trans communities this Pride Month, whether through volunteering, donating, campaigning, learning or amplifying trans voices, TransEDU has compiled a directory of organisations, projects and networks supporting trans and non-binary people across the UK.

While Pride is often associated with parades, festivals and celebration, its roots are in activism, resilience and the ongoing fight for equality.

This month, we'll be sharing stories, education, awareness and ways we can all help create a more inclusive world for LGBTQ+ people.

Harvey Milk Day. 🕯️🏳️‍🌈

Today we remember Harvey Milk.
A trailblazer, activist, and one of the first openly gay elected officials in the United States.

His voice helped create visibility, courage, and hope for generations of LGBTQ+ people who followed.

“Hope will never be silent.”

Born: 22 May 1930
Assassinated: 27 November 1978

Today closes Trans+ History Week 🏳️‍⚧️, and as we head into Pride season, let's be clear: actions speak louder than words.

Trans people fought for the rights our community enjoys today. Right now, as they face unprecedented scrutiny and attack, it's our turn to stand up, literally, for them.

This Pride season:
🌈 Use correct pronouns, always
✊ Amplify trans voices
💷 Support trans-led organisations
🗣️ Call out transphobia, even the subtle kind
🤝 Centre trans people at Pride, not just include them

At Mulwade, solidarity isn't seasonal. Honour the history. Show up for the present. 🖤🤍💜

HIV stigma didn’t disappear just because medicine improved.

It still shows up in language, in assumptions, in silence, and in the way people are judged before they’re understood.

That stigma has real consequences. It can stop people from getting tested, asking questions, and getting the support they deserve.

Ending stigma starts with what we say, what we share, and what we choose to learn.

Learn more about HIV stigma and why awareness still matters here: https://www.cdc.gov/stophivtogether/hiv-stigma/index.html

We all have a role to play in stopping HIV stigma.
