The ACE Programme Charity ‘Supporting Diverse Talent from the Grassroots to the Elite’

The ACE academy had the privilege of a visit from one of our ambassadors Manny Lumsden. Manny put the participants through their paces with skill based activities and shared his knowledge of the game. It was clear to see the participants were inspired by Manny’s achievements which we hope will motivate and give them the confidence in the game.

The ACE Academy enjoyed an evening of putting Surrey police through their paces when they joined us at our academy training session. With strength and resilience tested both the police and players shared their skills and techniques. It was great to have such positive youth/police engagement. 🚨🚔👮🏿👮🏽‍♀️👮🏻‍♂️🏏

ACE Announces Launch of the Syd Lawrence Competition

A New National Cricket Tournament Debuting in 2026

The ACE Programme is proud to announce the launch of the Syd Lawrence Competition, a brand-new national cricket tournament set to begin in 2026. Created to expand opportunity, enhance visibility, and strengthen long-term participation across the recreational game, the competition will be open to all cricket clubs across the UK.

While the competition proudly celebrates the contribution and legacy of African and Caribbean players in British cricket, its structure and philosophy are built around inclusivity, development, and nationwide engagement.

Named in honour of former England fast bowler Syd Lawrence, the competition will feature two formats played concurrently:

The Syd Lawrence Trophy – T20 Competition
The Syd Lawrence Cup – 40-Over Competition

Both formats will be played using pink cricket balls and coloured kit, delivering a vibrant and modern match-day experience. Fixtures will be regionally grouped wherever possible to support travel, reduce barriers to participation, and prioritise player welfare.

To further enhance the quality and competitiveness of the 40-over format, each innings will begin with two new balls, one from each end, a defining feature designed to create a balanced contest between bat and ball.

Entry Deadline: 23 January 2026

The competition will be centrally administered by ACE to ensure high-quality governance, improved funding potential, enhanced visibility, and a consistent match-day experience across both formats. From Year 2 onwards, active participating clubs will be invited to join the competition committee, contributing to the administration, decision-making, and long-term development of the competition.

We had an awesome session testing AI tools with the ACE girls and Ebony.
The goal is simple, to work with a cohort of girls across a 12 month period and learn how technology can help more young players to get feedback, grow their skills and be seen.
Over the next year there are challenges and prizes to be won, so keep an eye out.
It is early days, but the first session was fun and gave the girls a great start to winter training.
We look forward to the exciting journey ahead.
