Every child deserves a safe, joyful childhood. Yet millions of children are growing up amid conflict, displacement and poverty, where fear, instability and trauma rob them of their childhood and their right to learn and play.

HandSpark Charitable Trust continues to support Right To Play's urgent work to protect, educate and empower children - using the transformative power of play to help them heal, learn and build brighter futures.

The Trust has recently visited our programmes in Ghana, which are helping to combat child labour in fishing and cocoa-producing communities through locally led, community-based interventions.

Right To Play Ghana

For many young women in Burundi, stigma and limited access to mental health support mean there is nowhere safe to turn when life becomes overwhelming.

That was Rachele's reality. After a traumatic experience, she found it difficult to talk about what she was feeling and gradually withdrew into silence.

Through Right To Play's Sport Protects – Kukivi project, funded by the Olympic Refuge Foundation, Rachele found the safe space she needed – in movement, in play, and in the company of others who understood.

Today, Rachele is thriving in the programme and is leading activities.

She says: “I want to help other girls feel safe, strong and brave – just like I learned to be.”
