"The day-to-day job of being the fastest ski racer... pales in significance to the impact you can make on changing someone else's life."

Last week, ahead of International Day of Play (11 June), Olympian and Right To Play Ambassador Chemmy Alcott spoke to BBC Radio Sussex & Surrey about the fundamental role of play in children's lives, and the impact of seeing our global programmes on her own life.

Play is far more than fun – it’s how children learn, build confidence, process emotions and make sense of the world around them. Yet for millions of children, play is out of reach. Conflict, poverty and crisis are denying children safety, education – and the freedom to simply be children.

That's why Tess Howard, GB hockey player and Right To Play Ambassador, is standing with us on International Day of Play.

Because every child deserves to play. 💛

Every child has a right to play. Join us in protecting it.

Donate today and your gift will have DOUBLE the impact thanks to the generosity of HandSpark Charitable Trust, which will match every donation during Right To Play’s appeal from 1–23 June 2026.

Together, we can change children’s lives, helping them to learn, heal and thrive through the power of play.

Today is International Day of Play, and we need your help to show the world that play isn't "just for fun" – it's an essential part of every childhood.

Share this statement if you agree, or make a donation to give the gift of play to the children who need it most: https://www.donatetorighttoplayuk.org/

Your donation will be doubled by our generous match donor, HandSpark Charitable Trust, making twice the impact.

Every child deserves to play. Not as a reward, not as a break, but as a right.

Yet for hundreds of millions of children, that right is being denied, taken away by poverty, conflict, and a world that too often undervalues childhood.

Tomorrow, on International Day of Play, join us in recognising what's at stake and what becomes possible when every child gets to play.

When children live through crisis, safe opportunities to play are one of the first things to disappear. You can help ensure children don't lose their right to play.

Thanks to the generosity of HandSpark Charitable Trust, donations from 1-23 June 2026 will be doubled. Give the gift of play today. https://www.donatetorighttoplayuk.org/

On Thursday, the world comes together for International Day of Play.

Play is not a luxury. It's a fundamental right for children. But in regions facing conflict and crisis, children have had play stolen from them. An estimated 160 million children globally are being forced to work instead of playing and learning. Their childhoods are being cut short before they have truly begun.

We're helping these children claim their right to play again. Be part of the movement by giving the gift of play: https://www.donatetorighttoplayuk.org/

Thanks to the generosity of HandSpark Charitable trust, donations from 1-23 June 2026 will be matched, making double the impact.

We're excited to share that football freestyler Mo Omar will be joining our World Cup Party next Wednesday! âš½

One of the UK's top freestylers, Mo is joining our star-studded lineup alongside England's 1966 hero Sir Geoff Hurst, Arsenal legend Ray Parlour, and our host, former Olympic skier Chemmy Alcott. We'll be kicking off the World Cup with a night of celebrations, football challenges and a fantastic food and drinks reception at the Emirates Stadium, London.

All proceeds from the evening will help us bring the power of sport and play to children in our global programmes.

There are still limited tickets available – don't miss out: https://www.righttoplay.org.uk/en-gb/WorldCupParty
