On Saturday, August 1st, we took time to do something that is just as important as caring for others: taking care of ourselves!!! 💛🌿

Our “Take Care of Yourself” event gave our amazing adoptive and foster parents an opportunity to slow down, relax, recharge, and simply enjoy some well-deserved time for themselves. ✨

Thank you to all of the parents who joined us! And a huge thank you to all the providers and businesses who made this day super special!💕

Our downstate CAPS (Connections for Adoption and Permanency Supports) group meets in person THIS Friday at our Milford location from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.!

This is a great time to connect with other parents who understand your experiences, celebrate wins, or just to say hello and listen if sharing happens to be difficult right now. The simple act of sharing space with other parents who get it may be just what you need.

📩Email: [email protected] to RSVP! Dinner and childcare (ages 2+) are included!

NEW WORKSHOP!
Understanding Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders
September 15th
via Zoom w/ Special Guest Presenter Barb Clark

This session offers a trauma-informed, neurobehavioral approach to understanding FASD. Participants will explore how prenatal exposure impacts the developing brain and how those effects show up in everyday behavior. Through real-life examples and practical tools, we’ll shift the focus from “won’t” to “can’t,” helping caregivers and professionals respond with greater compassion, clarity, and effectiveness. Whether you’re a caregiver, educator, or service provider, this session will equip you to better support individuals with FASD and help them thrive.

Attendees will receive a FREE copy of Barb’s book, Raising Kids and Teens with FASD: Advice & Strategies to Help Your Family to Thrive!

Barb’s training offers real-world strategies that actually work. As the adoptive parent of five adult children, including one with FASD, and having been diagnosed herself with FASD at age 56, Barb brings lived experience and deep insight to her work in her business FASD Mosaic, and brings even greater authenticity to her first book–Raising Kids and Teens with FASD: Advice and Strategies to Help Your Family Thrive.

Sometimes the best advice comes from those who have lived it. ❤️

Donna shares a little wisdom for families walking their own journey toward permanency. Her message is a beautiful reminder that you don’t have to have all the answers; you just have to find your community.

ABCFOC holds a free monthly support group for parents and teens (including childcare and dinner) because we know peer support is a lifeline for our families. Sharing space with others who actually get it, without judgement, can be the thing that keeps a family together.

ONLINE WORKSHOP SERIES!
Becoming A Love & Logic Parent

The Love and Logic approach is a method of parenting that allows us to have less stress and better interactions while raising and teaching our children. Love allows children to grow through their mistakes. Logic allows children to live with the consequences of their choices. This six-week course, which comes with a workbook, will provide effective tools to help you teach children to be responsible, and to prepare them for life in the real world. Using Love and Logic methods will help you take back control and develop a better relationship with your child! Participants should plan to attend all sessions.
