WE’RE HIRING: STEM INSTRUCTORS
Part-Time / Seasonal | $25-$35 per hour

The BrandywineBOTS STEM Academy is looking for enthusiastic, engaging instructors to teach hands-on STEM classes for elementary, middle and/or high school students.
BrandywineBOTS is a Delaware nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering the next generation of innovators, problem-solvers and leaders through hands-on experiences in robotics, technology and STEM. Our STEM Academy expands that mission beyond competition robotics by giving students opportunities to explore a wide variety of science, technology, engineering and related subjects in an engaging, hands-on environment.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
STEM Academy instructors lead short-term, part-time classes throughout the year. Instructors may:
• Propose and develop a class based on a STEM subject they are knowledgeable and passionate about
• Adapt existing content or curriculum for use in the STEM Academy
• Teach curriculum and activities provided by BrandywineBOTS
• Work with STEM Academy leadership to develop new class ideas
We are interested in instructors across a wide variety of subjects, including engineering, robotics, coding, electronics, science, technology, design, aviation, architecture, mathematics, digital media and other STEM-related fields.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
Ideal candidates will:
• Have experience teaching, coaching, mentoring or working with children or teens
• Have strong classroom management skills
• Be comfortable leading groups of students independently
• Create an engaging, welcoming and inclusive learning environment
• Communicate effectively with students, families and STEM Academy leadership
• Be dependable, organized and prepared
• Encourage hands-on exploration, problem-solving and student participation
• Have knowledge or experience in one or more STEM-related subjects
Teaching certification is not required. We welcome educators, college and graduate students, retired educators, engineers, scientists, technology professionals and others who have both subject-matter knowledge and the ability to effectively work with young people.
Experience working with specific age groups is important. We are seeking instructors for elementary, middle and high school students and will match instructors and classes with appropriate age levels.
COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE:
$25-$35 per hour, based on experience and the nature of the course.
This is a part-time, seasonal position. Classes are scheduled throughout the year, primarily during after-school, evening and weekend hours. Opportunities may range from individual workshops to multi-week courses.
Instructors have significant flexibility in the subjects they teach and may develop their own class content, subject to approval by the STEM Academy Director.
Because instructors work directly with youth, selected candidates must successfully complete all required BrandywineBOTS youth-protection requirements and background screening before beginning work.
