11 LIVES SAVED👏💙 Another lifesaving flight, another chance at a fresh start!

This week, our team welcomed 11 new furry friends, including 7 dogs and 4 cats, rescued from Alabama in partnership with BISSELL Pet Foundation to support hurricane relief efforts.

As communities prepare for the impacts of severe weather, animal shelters often face an overwhelming need for space and resources. By transporting already adoptable animals out of Alabama shelters, we're helping create much-needed space for local pets who may become lost or displaced during the storm, giving them the best chance at being reunited with their families.

Thanks to our incredible partners at BISSELL Pet Foundation, these 11 animals were given a ticket to a brighter future! After a long journey, our newest arrivals were welcomed by our team with plenty of love, fresh water and food, and cozy beds to settle into. As they decompress and we begin to learn their unique personalities, we'll be sharing more about each of them in the coming days!

While these 11 animals are now safe in our care, our hearts are with the communities and shelters facing the hurricane. We're grateful to be able to lend a helping paw when it's needed most, and to our partners at BISSELL Pet Foundation for making lifesaving transports like this possible.

SILLY SQUIRT🐾💙 This we are pleased to introduce our social butterfly, meet Sq**rt!

This 10-month-old pup has a big personality, an even bigger love for his friends, and plenty of puppy enthusiasm to go around! Sq**rt was found as a stray before making his way to HAP through one of our shelter partners. Since arriving, he has quickly earned the title of playgroup superstar, making friends with just about every dog he meets! And his popularity doesn’t stop with his four-legged friends. Sq**rt has become a favorite among our staff and volunteers, too. This silly boy knows how to have a good time. Whether he’s galloping around our fenced fields with his doggy friends, tossing a stuffed animal around for himself, or challenging you to a game of tug, Sq**rt is always ready for some fun!

But don’t let all that puppy energy fool you! Sq**rt is also a professional lounger and sunbather, who has been known to dramatically flop down in the middle of a walk when he decides it’s time for a break. Snuggly and playful, Sq**rt is the best of both worlds. Once his energy needs are met, he turns into the most affectionate boy, melting into you as he falls asleep. He would love with an active, social family to help introduce him to even more friends! Sq**rt thrives attending local events, days out with volunteers, and any adventure he can tag along for!

⭐️Sq**rt is available at HAP Wilmington! If interested in adopting, visit go.hapde.org/adopt or stop in to meet him!
