Thomas Hopkins American Legion Cruisers Post 4 thanks everyone who entered a car or stopped by to see over 80 beautiful cars at the Patriot's Day Car Show, 2nd Annual held at the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center. A special thanks to the hospital for allowing us to stage the show. There are so many people who we need to thank for making this car show a success. We can't do it without the numerous car owners who braved the heat and brought fantastic cars for our enjoyment. Our Thomas Hopkins American Legion Cruisers Post 4 also brought their cars as display only, but they were also great to see. Many people donated items for the raffle, donuts, water, coffee, our DJ for entertainment, volunteers who cooked lunch, the Thomas Hopkins Color Guard for resenting the colors, McPherson College for providing the car show judges, and many more that will allow us to provide a great deal of support to the veterans in this area. I hope everyone in attendance had a chance to see all the trophies we presented today. The "Speciality" Trophies were all hand made by a Vietnam Veteran George Herrington and were very special. We also presented ten top awards that were all professionally made. I am sure I missed people who deserved credit for making the show a success. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year as we commemorate Patriot Day to remember 9/11 and to honor all the men and women who have served our great nation for the past 250 years. Thanks to everyone.

The Patriot's Day Car Show, 2nd Annual is less then 30 days away, everything is starting to come together!

Specialty trophies arrived yesterday, these are INSANE! ALL custom built by a local metal artist and Vietnam War Veteran. George was a helicopter gunner; he is an amazing person. There are (5) we will give away at the show; Best of Show, Best Paint, Best Engine, Commander's Choice & People's Choice.

Top 10 trophies & Dash plaques are on order; these are going to be awesome as well!

The Cruisers are getting excited for their Patriot's Day Car Show, 2nd Annual, it'll be here on 9/5 at Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center. You won't be able to miss us; we will be right there in the main parking lot just north of Kellogg in front of the VA.

Don't have a car to register?? That's ok, come on out anyway and look at all the cool rides from around Kansas. Listen to some music, get some lunch, purchase some raffle tickets and have fun, FUN the whole family can enjoy!

* Car Show parking starts at 8:30am
* Opening Ceremony starts at 9:30am (Don't want to miss this)
* Registration for Judged & Non-Judged is from 9-11am
~~ First 100 Judged registrations get a dash plaque & goodie bag
* Judging is from 11-1pm
Trophy Presentation & Raffle call is at 2pm

Cruisers:

We have been presented with an opportunity to show thanks to a fellow US Army Veteran.

His 90th birthday is August 14th; his daughter would like to honor him with his own personal car show. This would be a drive by (and maybe park for a few minutes) type of gift for him.

His name is Paul Martin, Retired Staff Sargent, he severed his country in Vietnam. He was beat up pretty bad and came home on a medical discharge.

Plan -

Location - Dillons in the parking lot at 37th & Woodlawn
Time - 3:30pm
Rollout Time - 3:50pm-ish
We will line up and drive to his home, he lives near-by on Whispering Brook Ct. Once I know he's on the porch and ready we will leave Dillons, we will slow roll in front of his house so he can admire all the vehicles. There is a possibility we will stop so he can come out and look at everyone's vehicles.

Once we are done, we are done. This shouldn't take very long, and he and his family would appreciate it. This is a SECRET so if you know him, please do NOT say anything.

Here at Thomas Hopkins American Legion Post #4, we’re proud to be part of this historic celebration and encourage our members and community to join us as we honor 250 years of freedom, service, and patriotism.
