Daily Work was founded on the idea we are called to serve others and to share our gifts in meaningful ways. Your partnership, as a volunteer, ambassador or donor, is critical to the success and well-being of the people we serve. Our vision is that empowered, self-sufficient individuals create strong communities. We strengthen all, by strengthening one. We believe everyone has meaningful gifts to share. With that in mind, Daily Work strives to imbue job seekers and volunteers alike with a desire to give back; we help all know the value and impact of their unique gifts and contributions. We welcome your ideas, gifts and participation in creating and realizing diverse, vibrant communities where all people who desire it, can find work that sustains them, can actively participate in community and family life, and ultimately, work together to improve the quality of life for everyone.

A job is so much more than a paycheck. 🏠 💼 🤝

Tomorrow, Daily Work Executive Director Julie Hoff will join Pam Stegora Axberg, CEO at Union Gospel Mission Twin Cities for Conversations on a Bench, a 24-hour event focused on interrupting homelessness and raising awareness ahead of World Homeless Day.

At Daily Work, we see every day how closely employment and stability are connected. A job provides income, routine, connection, and the foundation for having a stable home, but people often need support with transportation, technology, housing, benefits, and other challenges in order to get and keep that job.

Tune in to the livestream Thursday, October 8 at 6:00 p.m. to hear Julie and Pam talk about the intersection of employment and housing and why lasting solutions require us to look beyond any single issue.

One of the things we love most at Daily Work is seeing people come back to visit after they’ve moved on to new opportunities. 💛

We were so happy to have Maria (left) stop by this summer. She’s pictured here with Luisa (right), who now serves as our Client Services Coordinator and does many of the same things Maria once did in that role. Seeing them together was especially meaningful and such a good reminder of how the relationships formed here continue long after someone’s official role at Daily Work ends.

Maria is now working at the Wilder Foundation, and she connected me to some of her colleagues there to talk about possible ways our organizations might collaborate.

These connections mean a lot to us. Daily Work has always been about relationships, and it’s wonderful to see those relationships continue to grow, reconnect, and sometimes open the door to something new. 🌱

It’s National Migration Week!

Observed by the Catholic Church in the United States for more than 45 years, the week recognizes the experiences, contributions, and challenges of migrants and refugees.

At Daily Work, we see the contributions of migrants every day. Many have come to Minnesota under incredibly difficult circumstances, yet bring skills, experience, perspectives, and determination as they build new lives and pursue meaningful employment.

National Migration Week culminates on September 27 with the World Day of Migrants and Refugees, marked each year with a message from the Pope.

In honor of National Migration Week, take some time to listen and learn. One place to start: Somewhere in the Unknown World by Kao Kalia Yang, the October 3 Daily Work Equity Chat selection that shares the stories of refugees who have made Minnesota home.

🎉 We are happy to announce the arrival of our Fall 2026 Interns and AmeriCorps Service members! 🎉

Our interns and service members bring new energy, ideas, and dedication to the work we do. Throughout their time with us, they’ll have the opportunity to support and build relationships with job seekers while gaining hands-on experience and developing skills that will serve them in their own careers.

Their contributions make a meaningful difference in the lives of the people we serve, while their experience at Daily Work helps prepare them for what comes next. We’re grateful to have them on our team and excited to see what they accomplish!

⚾️🌧️ A little bad weather couldn’t stop the Daily Work crew from having a great night at the ballpark!

We were so grateful for the chance to gather with volunteers, supporters, staff, and friends at Target Field for an evening of baseball, good food, great conversation, and lots of laughs.

The rain came down, the Minnesota Twins didn’t quite come through with the win 😬... but neither put a damper on the fun.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and to the Minnesota Ballpark Authority for making this special night possible. ❤️

Sometimes the best part of the game isn’t the final score; it’s the people you get to enjoy it with.

✨ A goodbye, a welcome back, and a lot of gratitude. ❤️

Lindsay (right) first came to Daily Work as an intern in 2025 and went on to serve for the past 10 months as a Project Manager and then Interim Program Director. Their positivity, curiosity, humor, and deep commitment to our job seekers, staff, volunteers, and programs have made a lasting impact. We are so thankful for the leadership, care, and steadiness Lindsay brought to Daily Work, and we’ll miss having them with us every day.

At the same time, we’re delighted to welcome Rina Hélène, aka Marina (left), back to Daily Work! Like Lindsay, Marina first joined Daily Work as an intern. She already knows our mission, our community, and the heart behind our work, and she’ll be spending one day each week supporting our job seekers and team during the transition between Lindsay’s departure and the arrival of our new Program Director in October.

Nothing give us greater joy than continued relationships with our amazing interns. Thank you, Lindsay, for everything you’ve brought to Daily Work, and welcome back, Marina. We’re so grateful for both of you! ❤️

This Labor Day, we celebrate the contributions of Minnesota’s immigrant workers. 🌎 💙

Across our state, immigrants are caring for patients, teaching students, starting businesses, developing technology, managing teams, making and delivering products, supporting families, and contributing their talents in countless other ways.

And their importance to Minnesota’s future continues to grow: over the past decade, foreign-born workers have accounted for nearly half of the state’s labor-force growth.

At Daily Work, we see every day the skills, education, experience, ideas, and determination people bring to their workplaces and communities.

Today, we celebrate 🎉 Minnesota’s immigrant workers and the many ways they help our businesses, families, and communities thrive.

To Minnesota’s workers: thank you for all you contribute.

This month, we’re reading Toni Morrison’s short story Recitatif, and it’s giving us a lot to think about.

Morrison never tells us which of the story’s two main characters is Black and which is white. As readers, we start searching for clues, and in doing so, we begin to notice our own assumptions about identity, class, language, work, behavior, and belonging.

That makes Recitatif a great starting point for conversation about the assumptions we all carry and how they influence the way we see, understand, and treat one another.

Our Equity Chats are informal, welcoming conversations where everyone has uninterrupted time to share their thoughts and experiences with the material. You don’t need to be an expert or have the “right” answers. Just come ready to listen, reflect, and learn from one another.
