In Minnesota, we show up for each other. Especially in times of heightened fear and uncertainty, it is our care for one another, and our willingness to put that care into action, that stands out. As our immigrant neighbors and broader communities continue to face the abusive tactics of federal ICE agents who have flooded our streets, cities, and transit stops this winter, we know many of you are already finding ways to show up and speak out. Thank you!
This Friday, January 23, we invite you to join us in observing ICE Out of Minnesota: A Day of Truth and Freedom. This means no work, no school, and no shopping. A peaceful march is planned starting from The Commons park in downtown Minneapolis at 2 PM. Move Minnesota’s office will be closed as usual this Friday, and many of our staff are choosing to spend the day in solidarity with impacted communities. We hope to see you out there!
Friday’s action may not work for everyone—and that’s ok. We extend our support and appreciation to bus and train operators, doctors and nurses, and other essential workers who continue to serve community members every day—and to caregivers and vulnerable neighbors who may be unable to march. Join on January 23 if you’re able! And whether through public advocacy or acts of service, we know you’ll keep showing up to defend our rights and support fellow Minnesotans through this difficult time. As local organizing has demonstrated, we’re stronger when we act together.
