Governor Walz is proposing to cut $41.7 million from transit operations in the metro for 2026-29. We can’t afford to let this happen. Amidst soaring gas prices, the affordability crisis, and proposed federal cuts to transit, we need state lawmakers to improve and expand transit service to meet the needs of our communities—not roll service back.

This legislative session, Move Minnesota and Move Minnesota Action are advocating for the public transit we need to create a more affordable, connected, and resilient Minnesota! Through our work with community advocates and legislative champions, we've made tremendous progress at the State Capitol in recent years, passing ground-breaking policies and dedicated funding for high-quality transit. Together we can build on these wins and create a transportation system that works for everyone!

We are advocating for lawmakers to:
- Grow the popular bus rapid transit network in the Twin Cities metro
- Unleash more state resources to improve transit, biking, walking, and rolling statewide
- Boost commuter benefits for workers
- Expand free fare pilot routes where food insecurity is high
- Set new benchmarks to ensure investments in public transit are used well to meet people’s needs for fast, frequent, convenient service

We know that great public transit creates connected, sustainable communities where everyone can get around and all of us can thrive. And here in the Twin Cities, we're on a roll — making significant progress toward the fast, frequent and accessible transit system we deserve.

To maintain that momentum, though, we need champions at all levels of elected office, including City Hall. That's why getting to the polls today is so important. Municipal leaders play an essential role in making public transit a great option for everyone.

Across the metro, public transit is an essential service, touching every aspect of daily life. Thanks to years of advocacy, the fast, frequent, and accessible system we deserve is closer than ever — but we need champions at every level of government to continue that progress. That’s why Move Minnesota Action has endorsed 13 candidates in the municipal elections in Minneapolis and Saint Paul.

Now it’s time to help get out the vote for transit champions! Join us to doorknock for Aisha Chughtai (Minneapolis City Council Ward 10), Katie Cashman (Minneapolis City Council Ward 7) and Ethrophic Burnett (Minneapolis City Council Ward 5) before election day!

No experience is necessary and you don’t need to live in the ward to participate. You’ll get all the training and materials you need at the doorknock. Snacks will be provided.
