Here comes another Swing’n’Country show on KBOO 90.7 fm (6-9 am), on Saturday October 17!

The program starts with Faron Young "It’s Four O’clock in the Morning" (actually, just after 6am in the show), and ending with songs from a compilation of fifty old western songs on Wagon Wheels CD by RCA in 1992, from Slim Whitman, Patsy Cline, Gene Autry and Marty Robbins. There’s a set of requests from recent Live Chats, and another featuring the music of Buck Owens. You can count on lots of country style music in this program.

Isn't every day Dolly day? You know I just have to do it, so this Saturday's show will honor Dolly Parton and many of her songs as sung by others. Don't worry, you'll hear a good dose of Dolly too. I was going to try not to overdo it since it's been a hot topic in the world these past few weeks, but then I had a hard time not making the entire show about her. I think it's a pretty good balance of material and I sure do hope you'll join me to celebrate the life and talents of the most angelic songbird songwriter songcatcher ever. There are three hours of entertaining country music waiting for you Saturday morning September 19th from 6 til 9 AM on KBOO community radio 90.7 fm or streaming at kboo.fm.
The show opens with Canadian Alberta Slim singing Back in the Saddle Again. We’ll be featuring the fine guitar work of Merle Travis throughout, along with a great variety of country style music, including Portland’s The Pals of the Golden West from 1939. And Swing’n’Country will close with a brief but heart-felt tribute to Dolly Parton, after she sings Tennessee Homesick Blues.
Saturday the 19th is the last day of K-Boo’s Fall Fund Raising Drive. Listeners and members are the foundation of this station’s well-being. The goal for the drive is $55,000, especially important since KBOO lost $110,000 in federal grant money this year. We need your help. Get ready for some Swing’n’Country! Coming Saturday, August 15, starting at 6 am on a radio near you - on KBOO 90.7 fm. Three hours of country-style music.

The featured artists for the entire show will be Chet Atkins and his many musical friends. The show will also focus on the music of teenaged singer Sunshine Ruby, an early 1950s phenom. And I’m featuring Portland musician Mary Cameron and her musical friends, who’ve been entertaining Portlanders at various spots around town for years, with bands like Succotash and The Rocky Butte Wranglers, and now The SwingShifters. There’s also a mini-feature of Merle Haggard and his music as we approach the nine o’clock hour.

Those are the highlights. Of course the program is chock full of entertaining country music, including Frankie Lane, Ray Bierl, Brandy Clark, Tex Ritter, Jean Shepard, Marty Stuart, Loretta Lynn, James Taylor (with a cowboy song), Kris Kristofferson and his counterparts Homer & Jethro.
