Did someone say road trip? đź—ş

Earlier this May, OSBHA's Asia, Hannah, Patti, and Wlnsvey traveled to Central Oregon to host a convening with community partners, SBHC staff, school faculty, and public health coordinators.

💡 These meetings are designed to create space for shared learning to have a collective understanding of what’s working, where challenges persist, and where there are opportunities to move more in alignment. Some takeaways were new connections, seasoned approaches, and establishing opportunities to collaborate across organizations. 🤝

While in the area, the Oregon School-Based Health Alliance organized a legislator tour with Representative Jason Kropf at the newly remodeled Bend High SBHC with the Mosaic staff and Bend High student, Rowan. Thank you, Rep Kropf, for taking the time to visit the health center and learn more about school health services. We are super grateful to the Mosaic staff and Rowan for leading the tour!

And it's not a true road trip without an unplanned pit stop. The team visited the High Desert Museum and saw some friends, like the river otters in the photo! 🦦

📍 This is the second of five regional meetings OSBHA is offering, with the rest to come in the 2026-27 school year. The planned future gatherings are in Southern Oregon, the Portland Metro, and the Coast to continue building connections and shared learning across the state 🌲 Email [email protected] to be invited to the regional convening closest to you!

This Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, OSBHA's Interns, Student Health Advocates, and Youth Engagement Specialist came together to share reminders to the community that sometimes we don't hear enough and/or believe in ourselves.

To the AANHPI students, staff, and community members out there, your voice is appreciated, and you are enough as you are.

We thank our multi-cultural and lingual youth - Ria, Saanvi, Lauren, and Cindy - for contributing to this post by sharing the messages across different languages like Vietnamese (top left), Telugu (top right), Korean (lower left), and simplified Mandarin (lower right). Please keep in mind that some of these translations were taken with the affirmation and sentiment in mind and are not direct word-to-word renderings.

Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders belong today, tomorrow, and forever đź’š

Last month, the OSBHA hosted the 2026 Youth Summit! We had about 100 attendees from across the state of Oregon, including both adults and youth! We were so grateful to have had numerous presenters from various organizations, such as the Oregon Health Authority Youth Data Committee, Southern Oregon Coast Pride, FoodCorps & Oregon Farm to School Network, Our Future Oregon, Hatfield Futures Youth, Clackamas Women's Services, YouthLine, and youth from our very own OSBHA!

Thank you to Columbia Bank, Greater Oregon Behavioral Health Inc (GOBHI), Pacific West Bank, Partners for Sustainable Schools, Oregon’s Kitchen Table - PSU, Trauma Informed Oregon, and Youth Advisory on behalf of Youth Era for sponsoring!

Our amazing presenters and attendees shared so much about youth voice to further raise awareness of diverse perspectives in decision-making! This was a great opportunity to learn more about the various youth-led and youth-focused initiatives. Interested in events like this? Follow for more information about future events we will host! đź’š

Thank you to the nurses whose work supports not just health, but confidence, trust, and access to care for young people and communities.

Your work makes a difference in ways that don’t always get seen, but are always felt.

You are the glue that holds our healthcare system together!

"With or without papers, we have rights because we create the wealth."

In honor of International Workers’ Day, we uplift and celebrate immigrant workers, the backbone of this country. From the fields to construction sites, from kitchens to caregiving, and from hospitals to clinics, immigrant workers, including doctors, nurses, and healthcare staff, keep our communities alive, healthy, and moving forward.

Their labor sustains entire industries, yet it often goes unrecognized and unprotected.

Today, we honor the strength, resilience, and dignity of our communities. We also recognize the ongoing struggles immigrant workers face, exploitation, unsafe conditions, and the constant threat of deportation, while still showing up every day to provide, build, heal, and care.

This day is not just about celebration, but about solidarity. A reminder that workers’ rights are human rights, and that justice must include everyone, regardless of immigration status.

With the upcoming May being AP and IB testing, OSBHA would like to wish everyone a good testing month! It's easy to get caught up in test scores, but make sure that self-care is still prioritized during this stressful month. Test scores absolutely do not determine your worth, and neither should they ever. You are so much more than what you produce academically!
