Prevention is bigger than any one program or organization—and we’re honored to be part of the bigger picture.

As we recognize National Fentanyl Prevention & Awareness Day on August 21, we’re grateful for the partnerships, training, and community support that continue to strengthen prevention work across Arizona.

We recently had the opportunity to participate in a weeklong Strategic Prevention Framework training at Arizona HIDTA, led by trainers from the Drug Demand Reduction Outreach (DDRO) Team and in partnership with ASU’s Arizona Prevention and Well-being Improvement Collaborative (PWIC). The experience gave us valuable tools, insight, and connection with prevention professionals from across the state—and reinforced just how important collaboration is in this work.

Our ongoing partnership with the Maricopa County Department of Public Health also continues to provide meaningful support as we advance prevention efforts for youth, families, and communities.

We’re also preparing to expand our work through the THRIVE Evidence-Based Prevention Program for Teens, continued Train-the-Trainer development, and participation in the upcoming Arizona Drug Summit this September.

Every partnership. Every training. Every student reached. Every family supported. It’s all part of the bigger picture.

This year feels especially meaningful as Skye’s the Limit! Foundation™ prepares to launch our incubator curriculum pilot at Genesis Academy:

The Creative Mind: NeuroArts Studio — Art, Voice & Resilience

On a personal level, I am deeply excited to bring together my background in art education, curriculum planning, and prevention work in a way that directly supports our mission at SLF. This pilot gives us the opportunity to use creativity as a pathway for helping youth better understand themselves, their emotions, their stress responses, and the choices they have in moving forward.

Through hands-on artmaking, reflection, and basic neuroscience concepts, students will explore the connection between art, the brain, and wellbeing. They will learn about emotional awareness, identity, resilience, healthy coping, and how creative expression can support confidence, purpose, and personal agency.

This is about more than making art. It is about helping students discover their voice, build hope, practice resilience, and recognize that they have the ability to make healthy, meaningful choices for their lives.

The program also incorporates professional, local community artists as Creative Wellness Teaching Artists in the classroom to help bring the curriculum to life. For the first 9-week block of the school year, SLF is honored to collaborate with Tiesha Harrison, ACEs, founder and executive director of Sunflower Soul Project, a healing arts initiative that supports emotional wellbeing through art, neuroscience, and trauma-informed training.

Tiesha brings meaningful experience as a teaching artist, advocate, and trauma-informed practitioner. Her work focuses on creating connections between lived experience, brain-based understanding, and creative expression to support healing, resilience, and emotional wellbeing. We are grateful to have her join us as our Creative Wellness Teaching Artist for Block One.

Throughout the 9-week block, students will be encouraged to participate, ask questions, try new materials, take creative risks, and learn through the process. Building confidence and creative voice takes practice, and consistent effort will be an important part of student success.

We are grateful for the opportunity to pilot this curriculum and continue building creative, trauma-informed pathways that help youth feel seen, supported, empowered, and capable of thriving.

The Creative Mind: NeuroArts Studio — Art, Voice & Resilience

Where creativity, brain science, and self-expression come together to build resilience and hope.

Skye’s the Limit! Foundation is proud to have participated in collecting this important Health Needs Assessment throughout the County. Thank you to all of our partners who helped in sharing the Health Needs Assessment!

One thing we’ve noticed in conducting our own Health Needs Assessment in the past year, is that youth and families expressed strong support for prevention-focused programming and for activities that promote mental wellness, strengthen families, increase community connectedness, and support positive youth development.

🎉 We did it—together!

Thanks to the incredible support of our community and partners, the 2026 Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) Survey collected approximately 18,000 responses, surpassing our goal of 15,000. Every survey represents a voice that will help shape the future of community health in Maricopa County.

We're grateful to our data collection partners, who collected 5,516 surveys and hosted 315 events at which the survey was distributed. And to everyone who shared the survey—whether by sending a text, posting a QR code, encouraging a neighbor, or finding creative ways to spread the word—thank you. Every effort made a difference.

The work continues! Next, we'll be conducting CHNA Focus Groups and Key Informant Interviews to deepen our understanding of the community's health priorities. Stay connected and follow our progress by subscribing to the CHNA email list: bit.ly/e-chna

Roots of Resilience: Grounded in Affirmation
A reflection by our Summer Program Assistant, Brayden Hamilton

Thank you, Brayden, for shining your light each day! The Skye is the Limit!

Four weeks down, and I'm leaving each day inspired.

The first month of Roots of Resilience Summer Camp with Skye’s the Limit! Foundation has been a reminder of what it looks like when creativity, community, and care come together.

As a Summer Assistant, I've had the opportunity to support and learn alongside an incredible team and even more incredible young people. Every week has been filled with intentional programming, from Mural Mondays, where creativity transformed into powerful storytelling, to Arts & Crafts Tuesdays, where imagination and self-expression flourished, Mindfulness Wednesdays, where we slowed down, reflected, and practiced caring for ourselves and one another, and Salsa & Art Thursdays, celebrating joy, culture, movement, and creativity.

What has stood out to me most isn't just the activities. It's the youth. Over these first four weeks, they have consistently demonstrated remarkable emotional intelligence, communicating their thoughts, feelings, and needs with honesty, compassion, and respect for one another. Watching them build genuine community has been both refreshing and inspiring.

I'm grateful to learn not only from the dedicated staff at Skyes the Limit Foundation, but also from the young people who continue to remind me that resilience grows strongest when it's rooted in connection, creativity, and care.

Here's to the memories we've already made and everything still to come. 💟
