The Musicambia Songbook is out today, and it exists because of the songwriters who trusted us with their music, their stories, and their voices. These are currently and formerly incarcerated individuals who are too often unseen and unheard, and who created something meaningful in conditions that were not designed to support them.

18 original songs. Each a reminder that creativity, dignity, and profound artistic expression exist everywhere, including inside the walls of correctional facilities.

To celebrate the release of the Musicambia Songbook, a note from Musicambia founder, Nathan Schram.

Over a decade ago, Nathan founded Musicambia with a simple belief: that the joy of making music belongs to everyone, including people inside correctional facilities who never had that chance.
What has grown from that belief is not just a community of musicians across the country, but an album of original songs, written and performed by the people Musicambia was built to serve. Music that is powerful on its own terms.

Our second single, ‘Decision to Love’, by currently incarcerated composer J.W., is out now!

Featuring lead vocals by his sister, Myosha, this song is a heartfelt message to J.W.’s newborn daughter, speaking to the power of unconditional love:

“At times, you’ll make bad decisions
Defy morals and religion
But I’ll love you anyway
And God loves you anyway…”
