One year ago today, the International Court of Justice issued its landmark Advisory Opinion on climate change, ๐๐ฒ๐๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ผ๐๐ ๐ฆ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐' ๐ผ๐ฏ๐น๐ถ๐ด๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ ๐๐ป๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ถ๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ป๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐น ๐น๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฐ๐น๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ณ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐น๐ฒ๐ด๐ฎ๐น ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ป๐๐ฒ๐พ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ณ๐ฎ๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ผ ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ on the climate crisis.

Together with recent advisory opinions from the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, and ongoing proceedings before the African Court on Human and Peoples' Rights, ๐ฎ ๐ฝ๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ณ๐๐น ๐ฏ๐ผ๐ฑ๐ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ท๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐๐ฝ๐ฟ๐๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ ๐ถ๐ ๐ฒ๐บ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ด๐ถ๐ป๐ด that places human rights at the heart of climate action.
These decisions are helping to redefine climate change not simply as an environmental or economic challenge, but as a matter of justice, accountability and legal obligation.
