From FIFA World Cup parties to America250, this summer will be full of moments you won’t want to miss. And the best seat in the house? Right in the middle of it all, helping our fellow New Yorkers and visitors from around the world fall in love with the greatest city on Earth.

We want you to join the Summer Welcome Corps!

No experience needed. Just New Yorker energy and a few hours to spare to:

🧭 Point people in the right direction (you already do this for tourists anyway, right?)
⛱️ Steer folks toward shade and water when the city turns up the heat
♿ Help New Yorkers and visitors navigate the accessibility support they need

NYC students are the leaders of tomorrow, but they're not waiting to take charge.

Huge thanks to Urban Assembly Invests, a Leadership & Empowerment student club from The Urban Assembly, who raised $2,100 for the New York Cares Coat Drive and came by the office to present the check in person.

That's real leadership in action. Their gift will help keep our neighbors warm this winter, and it's a great reminder that showing up for your city has no age requirement. 🧥

This weekend, thousands of NYC students took the SAT. To prepare, many of them worked with our SAT Prep tutors.

In this video, you will see our SAT Prep classes in action at Brooklyn High School of the Arts. Volunteer tutors work with students in math and English to build test-taking confidence, raise their scores, and open the door to college.

This work matters because access to SAT prep is not equal. In some high-income NYC neighborhoods, up to 85% of adults hold a bachelor's degree. In lower-income areas, that number can be as low as 7%. Our College Access programs pair students with trained volunteers to help close that gap.

Ready to take your service to the next degree? SAT Prep runs weekly for 18 to 20 sessions starting in October, on weekday evenings or Saturday mornings. You will complete a background check and a short in-person training before you begin.

Add College Prep, SAT Prep, Financial Aid Assistance, or Teen Education to your Interests, then sign up for a training session to get started: newyorkcares.org.
